Recently a 2000 M5 with M-tech was listed on BAT and everyone is going crazy over the interior. Does anyone know anything more about this interior option, how many cars were produced, model years, etc.? I imagine this car will fetch a hefty premium for the interior alone.

You can get some info on how many, to which market, from m5portal

This interior was available available in European and Asian markets. A few board members over the years have had this interior, but it is definitely rare. I didn't think it was available in any NA market, including Canada, but I could be wrong; it was definitely not available in the US.

It must have been available in Canada, or it was an Individual order for North American cars? The M5portal site shows that 29 cars were delivered to DE93 (North America) with M Textur Alcantara/Nappaleder (F2AT).

I know it wasn't a regular option for 2001-2003 M5s here in the US, but I'm not sure about 2000 models. Anyone have a 2000 M5 order guide?

HA! I was an early poster in this thread on BAT and the first comment I made was about that MTech Alcantara interior!

Says in the BAT description of the car it was one of 39 ordered through the BMW individual program in all of North America. Not sure if that means one of 39 ordered with this specific interior, or there were only 39 E39 M5's ever ordered through the BMW individual program for all of north america? that cannot be true, but if it is, I'd say that makes it pretty rare!

According to this document link, option F2AT was available throughout the E39 M5 production schedule for North America, DE93, cars. It definitely isn't shown in a brochure I have for 2001 and 2002 M5s though however, nor do I recall ever seeing it as an option at the dealership or discussed as something that could be ordered. Nonetheless, the spreadsheet shows 29 cars optioned with F2AT just as M5portal indicates. 5 in TiSi, 7 in carbon black, 6 in LMB mmmmmm, 4 in Imloa Red, 1 in Silverstone, 2 Alpine white, 3 in Avus Blue, 1 in an Individual color. Note the other tabs to peruse along the bottom of the spreadsheet. I found that doc link from this page from a site called E39source.

Yes, officially only in Canada (I just went through all the spec sheets).

F2AT M Textur - 29 in total
2 pre-series cars (one with European papers and one with US spec)
27 Canadian deliveries (last one produced 12/05/2003 - ext. colour Imola red)

The Individual spec one with M Textur is "Velvetblue metallic".

If the US pre-series car ever was registered in America I don't know. Those with free Carfax can check this VIN and get back to us: WBSDE9348YBZ94024

I wonder if you could wrap a steering wheel or do shift boots etc with that material. Could look pretty cool.
