Does anyone know of where one can buy the software to use the M5 GPS screen as a TV ? I understand that that is available in Europe.

I don't think, that any kind of software like the GPS-CDROM can let you watch TV.

As far as I know, this function is integrated in the Navigation-System and cannot be "installed" afterwards by using a new software.

I was in Germany this year and my rental car (
) was a 5er. I definitely watched TV on the standard monitor.

The US has two problems as I see it.

1. There's no way BMWUSA is going to allow that function to work in a stock BMW in our litigious society.

2. Even if you could get a chip to make the US model enable that function like in Europe, the 2001s are apparently using different NAV screens, so someone may have to design something from scratch rather than copy whatever settings are used in Europe.

There are probably other technical issues!

In Europe we use PAL system for broadcasting, in US NTSC (Never The Same Colour
) is used.

Could be because of that. Guess BMW never constructed the Nav system for NTSC.
