I've bought a secondhand M5 steering box but have no idea of its condition, my mechanic suggested I get the pre-load checked and possibly get it serviced. I'm struggling to find anywhere to get it done locally in the UK so what's the concensus on steering boxes - are they quite robust after 20 years? Do I just fit it and hope or am I asking for trouble?

Any experience gratefully received.

TIA

They are durable and I believe they can stand the test of time. These "auto parts" are investments for your car to work smoothly imo.
