M5 Spare Tire?

Hi out there. This is my first post to this forum. I've never owned a BMW before, but many of my friends have them (3's, 5's, 6's, 7's, 8's and one '95 M3 Euro. About two months ago I got on a waiting list for an M5. At the time the dealer told me I was 12th on the list and my production slot would be forthcoming in about a year. He said they were getting about one a month, mostly for the afluent New Hampshire seacoast area.

So anyway, I'm gradually learning about this thing from reading all the information I can get my hands on. It's also kind of interesting how much more information you can get from owners' forums like this than you can get from dealers.

So after all this preamble, here's my latest question: If it's true that these M5's have no spare tire (or jack or lug wrench for that matter) what do you do when it's 3:00 in the morning and you're stuck someplace that has no cell phone coverage, etc., etc. Are these tires "run flat" units? If they are, I can only imagine what happens to the megabuck rims with no air cushion (albeit a 2" one with air in there). Could I get a spare and secure it in the trunk somehow? What's another 30 pounds out of 4000?

I guess this is all kind of anal and I'm sure there will be some that will ask me what I expect from a $75,000 sedan. I guess the answer would be "maybe a spare".

Doug
