Hi
My car is a 2000 e39 M5 I have owned the car for 6 months and it is now due its inspection 1 service, but where should I go.

1. Main dealer
2. BMW specialist
3.Local trusted garage.

The car is out of warranty and is 5 years old therefore I don't have to go to the main dealer, options 2 & 3 are tempting as their hourly rates are more sensible but is the main dealer stamp on the sevice record a must for this vehicle.
Any advice would be welcomed.

Cheers Nigel.

i'd go to a trusted independent bmw shop. Nothing magical about an inspection one, and the dealers don't really seem to care about these cars, they just want to get them in and out, imho. I think it is nice to go to a bmw specialty shop though, as there are certain quirks that a bmw trained mechanic might spot that may be missed by someone not familiar with the car.

Main dealer if you have a full BMW history and want to keep it up for resale value/ease. Either of the other 2 options is what I would go for as long as they know what they are doing. A M5 hs a lot of little trouble spots and if you stick to someone that knows what they are doing it will be picked up and fixed.
