1) That's not a convertible, that's a ute.

2) There's an entire thread with a crapload of pages about it.

3) It's his car, he can do whatever he wants and we should be supportive of it. It's a huge project and it takes a lot of work.

If you read the whole thread...you'll be able to appreciate the work put into it... I personally like it as Apples and his team were able to custom fab almost everything on the Ute and they are thinking outside the norm which I really appreciate and can't wait for them to finish it:cheers:

here's the link http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=68147&page=9&highlight=ute

he's australian as i recall, so you have a little different culture at work. the "ute" is held in pretty high esteem there.

plus, keep in mind the old australian proverb: "f**k it- let's do it anyway."

while not something i would do, i do admire the workmanship that went into it. and didn't i see somewhere that there's an e30 ute running around the bmw factory?

Not my taste but I do respect the work that when into it and lets face it is proberly the fastest best handling ute in the world. Forget the ford f150 harely davidson and the dodge ram srt10 I'll take the M5 anyday.

I've always been a fan of Utes since I saw them running around in Australia, and wondered why we never got them here.

Appleby's M5 Ute is a wicked idea. I wouldn't do it to my car because of the money required and the fact that I need the four doors, but if I had the means and a spare M5, I'd damn well consider it!

I dont know about Canada, but it looks like we're getting a ute here in the states. The Australian Holden Ute will be coming here rebranded as a Pontiac.

Model name? Any article links? I'd be interested in learning more about it, I'd go for a V8 model as a second car. :D
