I did this comparison and thought these numbers were very interesting:

M5 / Ferrari 550

1830 / 1690 kg
373 / 357 kw
507 / 485 hp
520 / 563 Nm
4.7 / 4.4 secs for 0-100 km/h
22.7 / 22.5 secs for 0-1km

It's virtually identical in weight, power and torque (just a bit heavier). It's just a little slower on paper, but the M5 can seat 5 and has ALL the mod cons and technology like Sat Nav etc.

I believe the M5 is a bit faster than a 550 maranello. According to the figures from Sport Auto it's as fast or even a little faster than the 575M :) M5 =

I have had quite a bit of experience with the 575 and it is fast but not that fast, i would like to see the new m5 pull away from it :)

I have a well-used 550. If it's even vaguely close to it I'll be very happy when mine arrives :)

The Ferrari 550 Maranello come out as a 1997 model, eight years ago.

I wonder what the replacement for the 575M will be like.

After watching the video of Ruud driving the M5 on the Autobahn and giggling like an idiot from the spectacular performance of the car, how could anyone care about 0.2 - 0.3 sec difference in standing-start, straight line acceleration? I strongly doubt the car will be embarrassed by stock vehicle out there right now. :M5launch:
