Car and Driver (November, 2004) did a comparison of 7 cars with over 400 hp. In 6th place was an Active Autowerke M3, with 442 hp in a supercharged 6. "This newfound power is routed through the stock M3 six-speed gearbox, but the tuner uses an M5 clutch."

Given all we've read on this Board about the M5 clutch, what were they thinking?

you have to remember the torque value of the rotrex blown S54 engine is lower than that of the m5's stock engine (339 vs 369). This whole supercharged package has been a sore spot with alot of m3'ers as AA has seemingly hid all the performance numbers on that pkg. Not for bad reason..look at the times, not an improvment, considering the extra 110 hp. While the car does have great reliabilty, and its road course time was not bad (due to suspension tuning).

13.1 at 109?? thats a joke... untuned m3's are faster.

Yet the use of a stock m5 clutch does bring up questions
