Lowering the car ?

I've seen some of the Gustav's friends lowered their M5 on the trip in Germany.

What was it for suspensions ? How much lowered ? 2 cm ?

I think i'll lower it too, it could give the car a much sportier look. Actually the stock are like 540i in their height, aren't they ?

The stock M5 is actually lower than the 540i. I would not suggest lowering the car any further as this can produce inconsistent results depending on what other performance enhancements are added. A 'badly' lowered M5 looks awful and scrapes road bumps (ouch!).

In fact they were lowered with the Kelleners susp. 2 cm because the 20 inch wheels heightened the car a lowering was needed. We don't want an "M5 Cross Country" (a la Volvo V70 XC AWD) do we?

Hi Tom,
I have also lowered my car with a Kelleners suspension(Springs and dampers).
It looks very nice and the handling for the car is absolutely perfect. It swallows waves, also by a higher top-speed then 280km/h, like there are no one.
I'm actually not sure if I want to lower the car anymore. I've had about 4 or 5 people in the car, and there were a few times when I go over speedbumps in carparks, the bottom of the car actually scrapes the speedbump. If the suspensions are lowered, it'll definitely need to be MUCH harder in order not to scrape the bottom, and I'm not sure if I want such a bumpy car...

Hi Terence,
I can not accept your meaning about the suspension. The car will not go definitely harder. The adjustment of dampers will be harder with rising speed. I think you know that we in germany don´t have a speed limit. So you can drive your car on a good sunday morning at 05.00 am with full speed.
There you can feel your car "working" under your feet. I´d never a bad feeling or cold sweat on my forehead. The car works "normaly" up to 220 km/h and then it´s getting "harder"! I must tell you that I also change the anti roll bar. But thats not the only reason for the good handling characteristic. Before i get the M5 (black with black/blue) i´ve had an M3 3,2l with original suspension. Oh my god, after that i know how a kangoroo-baby feels in mom´s bag.
Tell me another sedan car with this fantastic handling then the M5. You must search a very long time.
At the moment i consider if i let the engine tune-up by Kelleners.
