Loud Noise from Central Locking

2312 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  gt_nfr
Hi,

My central locking mechanism in the boot has started to make a loud noise when locking/unlocking. I take it this is just for the petrol filler cap lock?

Any point in me dismantling it to see what's up, or best to just order a new one. If so anyone have a part number?

Cheers

The fuel door actuator could well be the fault, but so could any of the other lock actuators. I would start by listening carefully at each lock actuator to better determine the location. Once the location is better known, disconnect that actuator and see if the noise has stopped. When the noise has bee eliminated replace that actuator.

I take it the only actuator in the boot is for the fuel door? It's extremely loud in the boot.

Any repairs to the actuator - seen as it's still working, or is it a sealed unit and just replace it?

Bump for me as well, this started happening to me after I wired in some Angel Eyes for me 2000 Xenons

The noise is a very high pitched squeal comjng from actuator
