I am sure Davidoli must have his eye on a couple of these...

It's probably Davidoli getting rid of some of his stock :hihi:
A cheap 3.6 in basingstoke if someone wants to do some work on it - £2k, although if she has some rust on the wheelarches i dunno what she'll be like under the side skirts.
Maybe with a few m5's getting sold cheaper some chavs may buy em and right them off leading to the rest of us having rarer cars and the gene pool being cleaner :)

I was surprised by the amount of good 6sp / LE cars on the list at what in my opinion should be considered cheap.

The silver 3.6 for £3600 also could be a great buy for someone.

Blimey!

Lots of choice there ! ! !

I can't help thinking that a lot of those cars for sale are short
term owners who've fed the bug to own an M5 but are getting out
before the bills come flooding in...

Some of these cars are now on their 5th or 5th owners, who are short of cash, are looking at maybe 2k worth of expenses and are jumping out. If you have the cash its a great time to buy....just like banking shares!

The way I see it, its even better to get a 'bad' car if you're not going to spend crazy amounts.

E34 condition 1 (that is what I would call, original paint all around or VERY good respray, low mileage, fast engine tight box, lots of money spent on seals , rubbers, shocks, brakes, maintenance) should cost between 13-20k Euro's. Mind you, I have only seen about two to four of these cars.

Condition 2 (which most of the ' finished ' cars on this board are, and mine will be after the respray, meaning all troubles addressed , lots of money spent on all aspects) should do some 7,5-11k euro's

Condition 3 ( most cars advertised, some rust or dents/scratches, generally well looked after, lots of money spent but still some to come , scruffy around the edges, minor drivetrain trouble) should cost between 4,5 and 6k euro's

Condition 4 ( rust, dents, non-original parts, drivetrain trouble like synchros, in need of cash injection or conversion into trackcar) should cost around 4k euro's.

Condition 5 (basket case, only to be restored if it has an interesting line to it like it being the last/first production or very rare color) should still always do 2k euro's, even without engine

The trouble is, its virtually impossible to get a car from condition 2 to conditon 1. I think it would cost some 5k euro's at least, and nothing can be done about mileage.

Therefore, I'd prefer buying a condition 3 or 4 and simply get it to condition 2, which would cost me no more than 5 either. But I would know that everything has been carried out perfectly and all parts used are the ones I want (some OEM, some upgrade like Powerflex, Touring ARB, serious brakes) plus it half the fun for me.

I agree that prices are low as ever Richard but compared to a banking share, it costs a lot of money to run an E34 M5 regardless of its condition, so it will never be an investment.

Wout , it doesn't get much clearer than that !

My tip would be the Silver 3.8 with the black leather , asking price £5250 in Feb 08 and now at a ( subject to inspection ) bargain £3600 ......

Anyone that has money in the bank at present is a damn sight richer than they were this time last year !

I have, but I'm going to use it on my current 'significant other' rather than starting an affair with a younger model.

I've got some stuff for Faz to sort out when it is with him next - assuming I'm still working then :haha:

My thoughts exactly Tony , although I now have 2 significant others , one of which Faz will be performing his magic on next week before our N'Ring trip and so there is no room for yet another in my life !

I'm sure I saw a thread about your next NS visit, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Can you remind me of the dates :3:

Just seeing what was out there. Always good to catch up with what cars are available and at what price.

I did consider selling mine on a couple of months back, was considering an E46 M3 as a replacement, decided not to sell after a dry trackday up at Donington.
