Hey guys;
I've beeen drooling over M6's for some time now and am finally in the position to purchase one but I need some advice and input.

First I am in Melbourne, Australia where unfortunately cars aren't as cheap as the U.S (bummer..) so when you check this link dont freak out on the $$$...:crying:

Can you guys tell me whether buying a 2006 M6 is a good buy, or should I wait until I find a good deal on a 2007/2008 model??

Are there specific things I should know/check/demand??

The car Im thinking of is on the following link.
http://www.carpoint.com.au/all-cars/dealer/details.aspx?Cr=8&R=9037284&keywords=&trecs=10&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Price_Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__sid=12B029BC2B6F&__Nne=15&__Qpb=true&seot=1&__N=834%201216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294967079%204294966922&silo=1011

Any input would make me a happy M6 owner...

Cheers guys and have fun! :blink:

Hey Hasan,
Thanks for the input; sound scary... I read in other threads that the SMG Gearbox is problematic/unreliable; it is really that bad?? assuming that it is similar to the E46 M3 SMG Gearbox, it cant be that bad can it??

SMG is fine. Don't worry 'bout it.

I have a 2006 M6.

I have ZERO issues on mine. NONE.

Only once. It was a hot sunny day, I was driving very spiritedly and got a Check Engine Light and limp home mode took over.
I parked the car and let the engine cool down to reset the limp home mode.

Car restarted fine.
Took it the dealer the next day, they told me its a known issue and they just need to update my software to the latest and greatest.
Ever since then - nothing has gone wrong on my car (knock on wood).

My car is also a CPO so I am protected 6 years or 100K miles.

Buy certified and you should be fine. I've had my 06 for a while now (I've put 35K miles on top of the 25 I bought it with) no issues so far.
