Would someone be so kind as to post a list with part #'s and links as to where to get all that is needed for the bearing replacements. I plan to do this within the next 3months but want to start ordering parts now. I am not going to do the vanos pump but everything else that is wise to do I will do. Thank you.

You can get WPC treated rod bearings and ARP bolts from EAS (make sure you select S85 so that you get the correct # of parts)

ARP - Rod Bolt Kit -- ARP001
WPC - Surface Treated Rod Bearings - BMW E46 M3, E9X M3 & E60 M5 -- WPC001

But since you said 3 months...if you're willing to wait a bit to order parts, I might be able to setup a GB for WPC treated rod bearings and ARP bolts for later this year...probably around December timeframe. I've been talking to PTech and it's highly likely, pretty much for sure, we will set one up (it involves me getting my rod bearings done first though...me spending $$$ = m5board getting potential GBs lol).

I know this question was asked before as to what the BMW p/n's required are...hidden in some thread somewhere.

If you had to guess what kinda of discount would you think?

EAS shows about $1100 for WPC treated rod bearings and ARP bolts...probably ~$900ish? A couple hundred dollars worth of savings. That's just my guess though based off of the few conversations I've had with PTech about this topic.

So I am going to try and do this sometime in late December. I actually think I am going to have EAS do it b/c they are only about a hour for me and quoted me $2800 total including the bolts/bearings. From shopping around that seems like a pretty good price. Looks like the only other thing I will need is the vanos line and any other belts/tensioners you guys think I should do while they are in there.

I did the research for you....you want the BMW factory parts it's:

10x 11247841702 - lower rod bearing shell
10x 11247841703 - upper rod bearing shell
20x 11247834522 - connecting rod bolt

Those are the bare minimum things you will need (just rod bearings and bolts).

Check out this thread:

http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60-m5-e61-m5-touring-discussion/321602-rod-bearing-replacement-parts.html#post4019834
So after reading this thread I sent EAS the list of what I would like done when they do the bearings and they said it would be easier if I just told them what I want done instead of listing parts. They said its $2800 for the WPC treated rod bearings, ARP bolts and labor. So what do i need to tell them I also want done instead of just listing the list I got off that thread?

I'm getting my rod bearings replaced by PTech in 2 weeks. I'll chat with the owner after the Thanksgiving break about a group buy for WPC treated rod bearings and ARP bolts.

Thanks. What else do you plan on having done while they are in there besides the vanos line I assume.

Haven't thought much about it...PTech is pretty good at servicing my car and if they feel anything else should/needs to be swapped out, then they will call me first to confirm before pulling the trigger. I'll probably just trust their Technical Director and let him do whatever he thinks is best given the condition of parts he finds once he starts working on my car.

I may need to take my car back to PT as ever since I had the monoballs installed I now have a wobble at high speed which was never there when I drove it down the morning of the install. Somehow the installation of the monoballs has created this wobble.

Paul, I just had a quick txt chat with Joe about this. His guess is that there is something else wrong (an existing issue), if all you got was the monoballs installed. Since the monoballs are hard mounted, the softer stock bushings could have been hiding an existing underlying issue. This is just his guess...He said please feel free to e-mail him directly [email protected] to discuss.

Maybe, I am taking it to my indy as he is much closer and see what he says before making the long trip down to PT.

Did you ever get that alignment done you were thinking about doing?
