I just finished looking at a 2001 CPO M5 with warranty until 12/06. It is light blue with the black/silver interior and the interior is in excellent shape. It has 49.5K miles and the dealer is asking $45K. The options are PDC and fold down rear seats. The paint seems to be in good shape with just some minor paint scratches on the trunk near the spoiler and up front under the bumper. According to carfax, it is a two-owner vehicle from the PA, NY, NJ (it was titled in all three states) area that was originally sold as a company car and then sold on at less than 15K miles. The BMW service history ends at about 28K, with the dealer’s inspection being the last item. Best I can tell from the carfax the dealer showed me, both times it was sold it was at an auction and sold as a fleet vehicle. The carfax didn’t show any major repairs or accidents, but I noticed that the plastic tray under the car just forward of the right front wheel is badly torn and some metal or foil is showing behind the plastic and looks scratched. Also, the wheel well liner at the front is loose right at the bottom. During the test drive, I noticed a strong vibration at any speed above about 45. I know from past posts that the dealers don’t always get everything right, but this seems obvious. Should I be concerned about the large gap in the maintenance history and the fact that it was hit or hit something or just use those facts as a bargaining chip? <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com
