I finally did my first mod. I will be doing many more starting next year. I thought as I do the mods, I will try to capture some pictures for the folks who are considering doing the same mods, and hopefully it will help them.
The most basic MUST DO mod for everyone…..LED License Plate Upgrade. It makes a HUGE difference in the appearance of the car at night. You must see it to believe it. It gets a lot more attention!
I understand how simple this task is for some folks as experts who do all kinds of work on their own cars. Please be patient with me as I am sure MOST of you folks would consider this nothing in comparison to what you are capable of doing as far as skills, but some other folks might benefit from this.
First I start from the selection of the light itself. I am generally too picky, and I didn’t want to get something that is too bright that seems too obvious it’s after market! At the same time I wanted the tone to match the welcome lights under the mirrors as well as the headlight! So I looked at many different options, and many different pictures to make the selection. The prices are generally very low for license plate lights, but in some cases there is 80% to 100% difference in the price. This one was surprisingly inexpensive!
So I contacted Cal at JLEVISW (Special Thanks to him and the rest of the folks at jlevistreetwerks.com) and asked him some questions, and I have to admit that he provided an excellent customer service for such a basic, inexpensive part.
I purchased the item, and it was shipped to me the next day with tracking number!
Installation will take 1 minute per light and there are 2 of them! It is super easy, and ERROR FREE!
FYI what I purchased is Weis****ch-Xenon-White and the part number is LPLXX1WYY.
By the way, I have been looking for Angel Eye upgrades, but have not had any luck with an error free one for 2008 model. I appreciate any input on that.
**Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with JLEVISW nor Weis****ch in any way! I am just very happy with the outcome of my purchase!
This is only showing the Left Side. The same process applies to the Right side, but in opposite way!
Note: If you have a frame around your licese plate, you might have to remove it to be able to get the OEM lights out easily and put the LED's in easily. as you can see in the pictures, I did it without removing the frame, but it was touching it.
I hope someone finds this beneficial! So the followings are pictures, and installation process with some notes and some comparison pictures between the stock light and the LED:
