LCI Head and Tail Retrofit - Errors

So I finished installing the OEM LCI heads and tails in my 07 M5. Added MUEB into the VO, default coded LMA2. And now have two remaining issues. Got the dreaded AHL error. Scanned the module and the errors popped up.

SMC errors 9CBF & 9CBE. As well as errors for my DRLs A8C4 A8C5. AEs turn off after a few minutes. I swapped those bulbs for 40 watt LEDs.

From what I have researched the pre-LCI had used a smaller wattage bulb vs the LEDs now in there.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I take it you moved the existing SMC modules from your pre-LCI headlights to your new LCI headlights? If that's the case, did you make sure that the left module went into the left side again on the new headlights, and same with the right side?

As for bulb errors, if you haven't already, you'll need to disable hot and cold bulb checks on the angel eyes if replacing the halogen bulbs with LEDs.

Another possible cause is that if you got second hand lights, the insulation around the wires has a tendency to disintegrate after a while. If this has happened and is causing a short, it will cause the bulb to go out as the LM continually checks for shorts, and if doesn't get the resistance it expects from the stock halogen bulbs, it will shut off power to that bulb after a certain number of checks. You'll need to reset the short counter in order for the light to come back on again.

I know this thread is old but I've just performed the LCI retrofit and ran into pretty much the same thing you are describing so I thought I would see if I can help.

I too had errors 9CBF & 9CBE after performing the retrofit. When the headlights try to perform the reference run on startup they would go and bang against the end stops which makes the ticking noise that you describe.

I attempted to reuse my SMC modules from my pre-lci lights which were SMC (1) modules. The LCI lights need SMC II modules which are BMW part number 63127189312. My original SMC modules said "SMC" on the sticker, the new modules say "SMC II". I went for some unbranded new modules which were ÂŁ30 each rather than ÂŁ190 that BMW wanted.

You'll have to code the new SMC modules with NCSExpert before AHL will operate.
