I thought twice about taking the 2006 M5 up to the Trent Jones Golf courses in Prattville, AL for a reunion. 58,755 miles on the odometer now. The car ran great all the way from Key Largo and back (760 miles each way). I averaged 12 mpg and had to put a quart of TWS in just north of Fort Pierce on the way back. The Michelin PS2s are starting to show a little wear, but I just love those tires. On I10 just east of Tallahassee, I looked in the rear view mirror to see some flashing lights from highway patrol trooper Ed****. Turns out he was a BMW fan and thought it was a V10 M5 and wanted to see my car (whew) and we talked BMWs for a bit and I invited him down to Key Largo for some fishing this August. Nice guy! I did think about all the what ifs about something breaking on the M5, but I'm not getting any younger and these are amazing highway cars. The 12 mpg is just perfect for my bladder/prostate size and gas stops.
