I currently use a Valatine one and have been fairly content with it. However I am a little obsessed about keeping my car looking good and the temporary nature of this device bugs me a little. So I ahve started to look at the K40 as a more integrated into the car unit. Here are my questions
1. Can anyone post any K40 pictures of installed unit
2. Where would you mount the LED's? Below the knockout get hidden by the steering wheel.
3. Is the actual device programmable such the Valantine one's logic mode so it does not constantly go off. I had a passport a long time ago and the highway/city mode was crap

thanks

I had a K40 setup several years ago- it was totally ineffective- it went off with everything. Ive tried all the major brands and the V1 is the best one Ive found. Now, I havent seen the K40s for around 5 years- so my info is definately old.

The K40 make look better but it pales in comparison to the performance of the Valentine One.

I used to have a V1 in my M5, but it was stolen while at dinner. I had a K40 installed, they drilled two holes coming in from the side of the instrument cluster and mounted the leds flush with the inside. The control know was mounted in the center console in the container with the slide up cover. Although I love that it is completely hidden, it generates many more false alarms than the V1 and isn't quite as sensitive.

All in all it is better than most radar detectors but isn't up to the level of the V1. Maybe I should call Valentine and offer to invest in a new remote model.

Currently have the K40 with Sonar and Laser.
Mounted as follows:
1 - LEDs mounted in overhead between Universal Garage Remote and Microphone for cellular system.
2 - Control knob mount next to Computer control know in the leather trim. (Or whatever that is)
3 - Not programmable. But, I have noticed fewer and fewer false alarms over the last few days. There may be a learning period to this thing. It does alarm quite often, but, I find that this helps remind me to keep my eyes on the move.
4 - Have the Valentine 1 as well. Works very well, but is not immune to false alarms. Had a CB'r setting it off for some 50 miles coming from S.C. until I felt safe enough pulling away from him.
5 - Going outside right now to take you some picts of the install!

Does anybody know if you can dismantle and install a V1, without messing it up. I had a shop tell me they could, so i went and bought a v1, and they said that the newer ones come on a different board and cannot be dismantled. I dont know if he was just pulling my leg or not.

I added an on/off switch to the jammer so that I could turn the jammer off once I have slowed down. This way, the cops will be less suspecious.
