Still pending financing and my inspection (as I haven't even seen it yet) but I am pretty excited about this. It is a 2002 with 28k miles on it. CPO 100,000 miles till 12/21/2007. Silver with black interior.

I turned in my M5 as a lease return in March and have been driving around in my Boxster since then. I have really strugled on my options looking and driving several cars including 2005 Porsche 911S (did not drive), 2005 Boxster S, 2004 BMW 645i, 2005 Mercedes C55 and 2005 Audi S4, but nothing has quite had the excitement and feel the M5 had. I guess I will keep my 1999 Boxster as the winter car as I did when I had my M5.

If all the pieces of the puzzle fall together, I will be posting pictures soon!

That's great! Congratulations! (Hopefully not premature)
I’m in the same boat! See my recent post:
Replacement for M5?
I really tried to like the 996tt but the rear biased weight distribution was unsettling in high speed turns with uneven pavement.
997s is much better almost acceptable. No offense to the fellow p-car owners here.
How about a DB-9?
I may just try and find a low mileage 03’ M5.
Anyone want to sell?
Congrats! The E52 is one of if not the best looking car BMW has ever made, and they have the performance to back up the looks. Fit and finish in the interior is top notch, and with the top down the S62 just roars out the back. Great car for good weather. Hopefully everything goes through for you!
Congrats!!! Can't wait to see your pictures. Drive it in good health. Any questions on the Z8? :wroom:

Just curious ... How did you decide on a Z8 (2-seater)? It seems that ... except for the 997s ... All the other cars you've looked at and probably had at least test driven were 4-seaters ... As well as the car that you drove for the couple of years. Was a 4-seater a previous requirement for you ... and then that changed?

HOW MUCH is this '02 Z8 gonna cost in todays market?

Is this a Dealer purchase ... or a Lease? If Leased - How long and how much?

Did this Z8 have only ONE previous owner?

Do you know where ... what city ... this car was originally sold in?

Do you know if this Z8 someone's daily driver?

I ask this last question because of what seems to be fairly "High Mileage" as compared to all the other Z8's that I've recently seen for sale. :M5launch:

I have also looked at many different cars lately, and I would get a Z8

over any of them. I just drove the new 997s, very strong, but for the
money I would rather be able to put the top down. Drove an 02 TT996,
but for the same price, I would get the brand new 997s. I drove an Audi
RS6 last week, really fun pull factor, but at higher speeds, I felt it
could lose control too easy. I just cant see getting rid of my car for
anything other than a convertible. If I wanted to go to a 4 door, and
wanted comfort, it would be an E55 (definitely not for looks and handling).
Theres alot to choose from, maybe its time to go to 2 wheels.:M5launch: :M5launch:

The number of doors or seats really wasn't the deciding factor. I guess after driving the M5 for three years, I just gravitated towards sports sedans. However, I just could not find the level of excitement I was looking for in the cars I had driven so far. I never did get to drive the new 911S so that may have been it.

The Z8 I have the deposit on is a one owner car that was purchased by the dealership in an auction in Georgia. It does seem to me as well that the car was somebody's daily driver as the miles are relatively high. The asking price for 2002 models ranges from 95K to 110K on cars.com. The price I have agreed to pay is just a hair under 90K. I am looking at a lease, not through the BMW dealer I am possibly buying the car from, but through leasecompare.com as their rates are much better. If you check on their website, a 39 month lease (36,000 miles) on a 2002 90K Z8 runs right at $1100. Most likely less than many are paying for their M5's on this board.

I should know tomorrow if the details work out as I have planned.
