ebay B9

Is this a genuine B9 underneath the rubbish? Would it be worth the hassle?
I have read that the starter is defective as are the brakes, but nothing serious it would seem?

Can anybody help me here?

Thanks

true andy.. but 260kw? thats 353hp.. is that for real?
Andy,

Don´t you remember that the E23 B9 is a UK only model? So this is just a 728i with a B9 engine. The only lhd E23 ALPINA is the B8 733i, or as B8 conversions on models 728-733i. And these were all made of the older model, not the face-lift one that can be seen in the link posted.

As far as I can recall there was no E23 Alpina B9 in the UK. The car that was produced in the UK was the E23 facelift B10 model. This came about after a discussion with Mr Bovensiepen and Frank Sytner. Frank Sytner was moaning about the fact that the 745i was not avaiable in the UK with 250+ hp. Mr Bovensiepen suggested that they introduce the then new 260hp engine from the E28 B10 into the E23 7 series. Thus the E23 Alpina B10 7 series was built. As far as I know that was the first Alpina 7 series that was available in the UK, I think back in 1984.

As for this car it looks like it is a 7 series with the B9 engine (245hp)

Many Thanks
The B9 e23 was a European car mainly with few appearing here in the UK based on the 728's of the time. The only purely UK Alpina basec on the e23 was the B10 as pointed out above.
The B10 was the series 2 cars, and so were the B9's produced in Germany. the B8, is as you say based on the series 1 models.

It would have 245bhp as std though and not the kw as stated!

By the way, I know of one B9 here in the UK, it's in blue, manual with full Alpina trim, rather nice it is to. ust need to get my B10 sorted now!
The seller corrected the power to 250 hp rather than the 260 kw that he originally stated.

Cheers, Alex
