For the past 15 years I've desired the E39 M5... I've resisted because I was concerned about repair costs... But I finally couldn't stand it and gave in to the urge! So, I just purchased a 2000 Oxford Green/Caramel/Walnut with about 130K miles. Good repair/maintenance records provided... the car runs great, everything works, and it is quite clean. I believe the PO was a member here... I've basically been a Porsche guy, but this is the 4th BMW I've owned, (including an M3 race car...) Recently retired and this will be my "around the bay area" car and should be good for a blast down the coast and it will serve as my track car when I am instructing for BMWCCA! My son and I took it out for a blast after we bought this evening and I can't imagine ever getting over that wonderful sound!

After looking at his posts, yes...

As always, I bought this car thinking I'd just get regular maintenance, etc.... but...... Already have plans to go at least a little ways down that slippery slope.... However, I do believe in keeping a stock appearance... Also, I'll try to search before bugging you'all with questions...

Nice!!

What kind of plans are you thinking about at this point?
Not sure if the shocks have ever been changed, so I'm thinking of Bilstein HD or Sports...

If you plan on sticking with stock suspension set up, koni shocks are great. They have adjustable damper settings.

Welcome to the ridiculous world of e39 M5 ownership! :)

As you can tell at this point, we want pics!

I will agree with you, it would be very difficult to get over the sound this car makes.

^very nice. A clean beast, especially a dark colour, is a hard thing to keep.
