I am about to replace my E36 M3 and I would like to get some owners info on owning an E39 M5 especialy in Australia. Any information would be helpful, like what to watch for and what goes wrong etc.

Thanks for your time in advance.

Hey Bob,

The biggest issue is the Pussy Clutch/dual mass flywheel setup.

The Beast suffers from clutch slip.

I had mine from new. The clutch was gone after 7,000 KM.

I didn't want to drive around being careful all the time, so I had a full setup made, and BMW installed it under warrenty.

Problem solved, now I don't have to be careful.

The only thing I burn now is the rubber.

Some older models had vanos problems.

The 99's burnt oil like a MF.

Early ones had square rear view, later ones have the cool oval one.

Older ones still on CD Sat NAV, whereas the newer E39's have the DVD widescreen setup.

Check the wheels for kerb rash as they aren't easily repaired with the shadow chrome.

Check the rear sway bar brackets, they are prone to cracking. Beastpower ones will sought that out.
