Got a chuckle out of that...

Was pulling into my parking space at work and this guy in a suit walks over to me and asks - "What year is that car?"

"2003."

"Is it a 5-speed or a 6-speed?"

"6-speed."

"M5, you don't see too many of those, I would love to have it. What's the market price on these, if you don't mind me asking."

"Low $60's to upper $50's - it's got 22k miles on it." ;)

(HIS EYES GOT WIDE WHEN HE HEARD THE PRICE - HE COULDN'T GET HIS BUSINESS CARD OUT FAST ENOUGH)

<HIS enough fast card business his for reach couldn?t price...he the him told I when wide grew eyes>"I would like to buy your car, I just moved my business into this building, so if you want to sell it, call me - I would like a chance at it.".

"Ok." (as we exchange business cards) <WE business cards exchange>"I'm thinking of buying the new one anyways, but it wouldn't get delivered until January.".

"PLEASE CALL ME."

I love this car...

Great story Scorpio! Regarding your comment above. My recommendation... think again! ouich

The new one doesn't have the E-39's nice lines, and the wonderful wraparound dash is gone and you won't be able to do this: :noSMG:

Very nice!

I had similar offer when gassing up my Vette a few years ago. The guy came on so strong that I told him it's not for sale (even though it was)!

A few months later, I learn that the guy father to one of my daughter's friends. I still can't help thinking that initial contact was a bit pompus of him, but I should've $old it to him - he just built a huge house with a shower bigger than my kitchen!

Congrats, now you know when you are keeping your car in good shape. Was it cleaned up when he saw it or was it a mean dirty grey look ?

I had the same thing happen when I used to drive a Triumph TR8. Every1 out of 5 times I would gas up someone would chit chat with me and compliment the car. Every once in awhile someone would offer to buy the car, as it was in great condition. Nothing makes the drive home sweeter than knowing that the car you drive and are happy with drives others nuts with desire.

It was a little dirty...not too bad, but not clean! Oh well it was a dark garage.
