I was told today that my dealership is only getting one instead of three July production slots. I'm promised the very next M5, but I'm afraid that's going to be Oct. 2001. I feel so helpless and let-down. I'm going to write BMWNA a letter letting them know how far to insert the enclosed stick up their ***!

Seriously though...is there any hope, or is this it and I should just stop whinning now. I would like to think that if I can get a hold of the right person, this can be resolved. Am I daydreaming or no?

Given the circumstances, I don't think it is reasonable...I want a 2000 model year and thats that. I made my $500. deposit the beginning of August '99, and I gave them the an additional $4500. to finalize it in May. There is a story behind this, and I'm thinking of playing the "pity card" hoping someone can understand my situation. If I didn't think that I was wronged, than I would not go through the trouble of writing a formal letter...I'll post the letter as soon as it's mailed via certified mail.

Does anyone know someone at BMWNA that I should address this too? Right now I'm sending it to the customer relations address given by their website.

If you would take a black on black all leather I know of a brand new one available, you may have to get on a list. Email me with and I'll tell you the details.

Thanks Robby, I saw that already...Titanium Silver/Silverstone I believe...personally don't like that combo, might be great for someone else. The extra few month wait won't kill me, it's just that I'm not getting what was promised, and on something like this I expect for them to stick with what was promised.

I had an error in my order but, it was not associated with the delivery date. Sorry to hear about the loss of your place in line. I would try ordering from several dealers and see who gets the allocation first. You can always get your deposits back from the other dealers. I realize it sounds like an unusual way to buy a car but, it does work with one that is so scarce.

Good luck with the hunt and look a little harder, it does pay!

Think of it this way, you would get the 2001 model instead of the 2000 model (I have no idea what's new in it, but it is new
)

Mine will be arriving in October too, which would be a 2001 model.

It was important for me to get the first year, that would make it only one in roughly 2000 in the US...as a fanatic, I want it that way. Driving it a couple months early is a big plus too!!

What dealer may I ask? I just got bummped by Classic in Richardson because of allocation slip. I am promised a late June slot but have yet to see it. They let the slot I was supposed to have slip into 150 and I want an odd combo. BTW John Roberts occasionally has passed over ones you might ask there.

Chris,
My order is actually at John Roberts. They are jerks, and I will NEVER buy from them again. I'm only sticking with them now since I have the best shot of getting one soon with them. I don't know what the deal with the "attitude" there is. Read the letter to BMW Consumer Relations I will post soon if you want to know how I was treated.

OK everybody, now I KNOW there is something fishy with my lost allocation.

On Saturday my salesman called me to tell me that there was a Black/Black Exclusive awaiting pickup, and that I could come and take look. I had told him to call me if there was an M5 with Sportive so that I could see the aluminum trim. Nonetheless I was excited to see one up close and personal (my first one) so I decided to go over there any see it anyways.

While I was there he sprung something on me that I wasn't ready for. He said that in about a month or two they will get an Imola Red/Black Exlusive M5 and there is no buyer. WTF is going on here? That should of been MY car not some bastard M5.

Thanks Craig, for getting me a contact at BMWNA (finally someone addressed my original post!), I'm gonna call them tomorrow.

That Imola Red sure sounds like the one that went 150 at Classic. The car was supposed to be configurable for the front of june (111 they call it) but by the time I asked to config it it was 150 and Imola Red; regardless I was told they'd get one for me to config the way I want.

Another episode in as the m5 is ordered... Well RaMsEs may be the only one interested but J.Rs just called me and they have a black on black and are telling me I am being jerked by Classic. So if you like Black on Black I'll race ya to it
Draw-back JR won't sell it for list. If I order it I get exactly what I want at list. Tough choice.

Chris,
Please explain about the numbers (111, 150) I initially thought they were places in line but I guess not.

I've seen the Black/Black Exclusive already. If fact I saw it back on Saturday. That car is available? I was told the customer would pick it up on Monday. DAMN it looked mean, and the wheels looked better that I had imagined. Wood trim is not for me though, which is the problem with that Imola coming in. BTW if you end up looking at that black one, know this: I noticed some white speckles in the paint just below the front passenger's door molding, near the ///M symbol. Might of been nothing at all, but just thought I should tell you what I saw.

Sorry the numbers are the status of a car. A car in 111 has not started production. A 150 is past the point of changes to the options paint etc. Its how they list them on thier inventory.
So when the allocation I was promised went 150 it couldn't be changed from the factory BMW marketing determined color interior etc. I didn't want Red I do want wood but too agree JR is not a dealership for me. If they got exactly what I want with no miles I might pay their 5k but I think I'll just wait for classic.
