I have sold my M5...

Friends,

Thanks for many very enjoyable months where I have shared and learned a lot about the new M5. The M5 was truly the dreamcar of my life and it is a shame I had to let it go. I was fortunate enough to drive 6500 kms and
experienced a car that is truly the best available when it comes to supersport sedans.

I will of course continue to read and contribute to the board since I have a lot of experience from the M5. Will keep my X5 and are now looking for a
really fast touring with four wheel drive. The M5 became a bit to small and I could never learn to like the auto mode. Despite that, the M5 is 10 points in every category.

Everyone out there, take care of your beasts and enjoy every second of driving it is an amazing car!!!

Cheers!

Well, a little shock that someone sold new M5 after 6500km hmmm
Nevertheless it had to be unforgiving experience to drive the V10 beast.
Now, best luck seeking for a new (bigger? ouch, I thought the E60 is seriously big when you compare it to E39
)

So maybe Alpina B5 Touring or waiting for upcoming RS6 avant, but please dont go to the dark side and dont buy E55 Wagon ( darth vader among cars, seems strong and unbeatable but in the end it always looses :hihi: )

Wow- I am surprised. I hope you find what you are looking for- good luck. Was there anything more you can tell us about why you will be moving on?
Why did you sell it to begin with?

That's too bad to hear EKAN. I know you had some teething issues with the car, but was that the reason you are selling it? At least you got to have some time with her before she went.
RS6 Avant with some turbo mods would probably keep you happy!
hmm why would you buy it the first place?? anyway good luck finding another car
Sad to hear that you sold it so soon…… At the end of the day looks like you were not totally happy with it.

Good luck on searching new bigger car and let as know your new choice. Would be quite interesting what you have chosen after owning this superb peace of machinery.

Take care

Interesting....

Is there more to the story than that?? One is led to believe there possibly is, but I hope the M5 hasn't left you with a sour taste in your mouth...

really fast touring with 4WD? Sounds like you're in the market for an Audi RS6 Avant... I can't think of many seriously fast all-paw wagons...

If you lived in Australia, we could offer you a HSV Avalanche...Click here

All-wheel drive, 5.7L Chev LS1 V8, full leather interior/climate control ect, abundance of tuning options (stroker, head/cam, supercharged, turbo) AP Racing brakes and with the money you'd save on a similar euro car, you'd make it go quicker than the M5 for much less... :M5rev:

There is nothing NEW, Fast, Avant, Automatic and with 4 wheel drive availible on the market right now...

Current RS6 IMHO is outdated, new RS4 is nice but its small and only comes with manual...

So really you dont have many options, if you especially want 4 wheel drive...may be new Porsche Cayenne...or E50K 4 matic Estate tuned by Kleemanns...

Very Sad...and Good Luck... :byebye:
there... the automatic claims first victim :7:

i couldnt resist... :noSMG:

low rent, and that is being generous
.. you want to sell him a taller monaro? with the gm-quality interior? i think that would be a tall order for somebody used to certain interior quality and mechanical sophistication...

i am not saying this car is no good, just targeted to different audience methinks...

Oh!

I´m surprised. You must be the first one selling a used E60 M5?

Did you make a good deal? That´s why you sold it, isn´t it? :hihi:
Sorry to see it mate, but if you had to do so then you had to do it! I can understand the part about running out of room as well...
Get the upcoming M5 Touring...that should keep you happy, just learn to live with the auto mode

Ha ha!! Very generous... Personally, I think the avalanche is one of the most pointless cars on the market (here down under), but Audi RS6 aside, I can't think of another 4WD avant that is really fast (or can be made to go fast with a bit of engine work) without going to some big behemoth piece of $hit like the Cayenne Turbo... Subaru WRX Wagon is far too small. Perhaps Liberty B4 Wagon, but the interior quality is possibly worse than the Holden interior...

Might have to wait for the new RS6... Hopefully it'll be V10 powered with a manual box (like it's RS4 sibling) with quattro and in Avant body style.. sounds like it'd fit the bill nicely...

I wouldn't try to sell him one of those even if I were in the business of selling them... i think they're crap. but Holden trim quality is ahead of U.S. GM family interior trim quality..
I've got no idea who the avalanche is targeting... Bogan self-important wankers with a family, too much money and a Holden fettish is the only audience i can come up with...

It would be a tall order, but his requirements result in a near non-existant field of contenders outside of a used RS6 and the avalanche (if he were an aussie.. which he's not... so i don't know why i suggested it :confused2 )

New Range Rover Sport perhaps?? Supercharged V8 with trick terrain selection program gimmick... i dunno.

Thanks for all feedback! :byebye:

Main reason for selling is two kids age 1 and 3 and all the luggage that goes with it... I really wanted the M5 but as of today it did not match my needs. I ordered the car for about two years back and then I thought everyting would be cool.

I am sure I will buy an M5 again when we no longer need to carry around baby trolleys and stuff, Touring or not still to be decided. I also hope that there will be an updated version of SMG with a smoother auto mode.

And Cidair, you got a point. I were a bit afraid of seeling it after 9 months with 15000 kms on the meter, not sure on how the market will develop
with private imports etc. So I just did it and got my money back, no more no less, which is quite a good deal after 4 months and 6500 kms.

So I will probably end up with an RS6 Avant (I know it is a bit out of date) until the M5 Touring is available. I would never even consider the E55. We also have an X5 but it is too booring for longer trips but does the job for my wife on a daily basis.

In the end of the day these are absurd luxury issues to deal with...

Will probably buy another M5 in the near future. The car is brutal and very
very enjoyable in the manual SMG mode, and beats almost everything out there!

You can get my dream family hauler- the Alpina B7. 500bhp! over 500 lb ft! Do it! I have a E66 (745Li sport) as family hauler and the big trunk swallows up things. Dont be fooled into thinking youll get much more storage in a touring version- while you may be able to in theory, when the packages pile up in the back, you lose rearward visibility- which is a safety issue. And when they are not piled up, you must remember to put up the netting otherwise the luggage could fly into the passenger as high speed projectiles- not what you want! I prefer a dedicated trunk- and that big 7 series trunk swallows up the stuff from our two kids (8 months / 3.25 years) and of course our stuff.

For the snow the 7 is OK with snow tires. I can get them to chirp with the stock 745 engine- imagine the blown version Alpina uses. not as fast as the M5 to 62mph, but still 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds for the short wheelbase or 5.1 for the L version! Top speed is 300 km/h! (186.4 MPH!) In such a big car will feel fast! Oh baby!!! Advice: get the comfort seats. The rear seat entertainment is not worth it if you are buying as its expensive and you can't control the dvd changer from the front (aside from volume and track) so you cant change discs or navigate the DVD menu. The aftermarket can fix that. Having the L version is great- when the kids kick, they are not kicking your seat back!

The overwhelming impression you take away from driving the Alpina is its focus. All too often, you climb out of an AMG or Brabus astonished at the abilities of the engine, but wondering just how good it could be in something a little less dynamically flawed. Not so the Alpina - a car that makes no excuses for what it is, and demands no allowances from those who drive it.

I wish I could get the B7 here! I think while its not a M car, it is similar in that its a special vehicle, for some special kids, of all ages! :D
