I've seen that Top Gear several times, and you have to put it in context. He says that because it's as fast, with 4 doors and is about half the price. As an "all around" car that can do loads of stuff including practical tasks, it is a better car. But as a pure car, the Ferrari is better.Jermey Clarkson said the M5 was a better car than the F430!! Is that quantifiable?
Well, if you combine everything...the M5 and other supersaloons ARE the best cars out there.
They can carry 5 people, handle trackdays, you can drive across the nation without breaking a sweat, M5 can even tow...they are the ultimate allrounders and therefore, the best out there.
One more thing, Autocar UK praised the M5 aswell when it showed up in 2005, and they don´t talk or comment like Jeremy does, just serious tests.
M5 better than F430 says Autocar - Ferrari Life
A Ferrari F430 and the M5 can´t be compared to one another, but hearing Jeremy say that is as good as it gets, that only describes how fantastic the M5 really is, it can in some ways compete with the best sportscars out there.
no way man...the CTS V is the best car of all times!!!
+1I really consider Top Gear entertainment and not an informative program, a title reserved for 5th Gear and other non-cartoonish review shows.
Lol -- then you will definitely love Tiff drifting the M5 as the world's fastest vegetable slicer -- literally (Check out Part 2) :grinyes::grinyes:+1
That was my point. On the other hand, listening to Tiff describe the sound of an engine makes me feel the sound wave rumble thru my spinal column.
He did the same with the Porsche Cayman, claiming it was complete rubbish then praising it as an engineering marvel only to tear it down for filling a niche between the Boxster and 911 and being 3/4 of the car it could be. I did find it funny when he said the Cayman should be called the 'cockster' and that Porsche designers are some of the laziest around.Let's not forget that Clarkson spent the first half of the episode bashing the M5 for its looks, satnav and power.
As always the Top Gear caricatures aka presenters rip a car to shreds before acclaiming it as the best machine ever or vice versa.

Yes -- lets not waste time with normal supercars, time to up the competition -- M5 vs a real F1 car ... lol lol :flag:Well, if you combine everything...the M5 and other supersaloons ARE the best cars out there.

horrible.I like Tiff Needell as well. However, Top Gear US is, well... :confused3
just got picked up for a 2nd season ouichhow, I have no idea.I suppose an f430 and a M5 in the same garage would be the best of both worlds no doubt.
But to compare the two head to head is just silly.
Tiff is tops in my book while Jeremy may be more entertaining to some I just get a kick out of how tiff wails on these cars.
As far as a CTS-V.....well I will let ya know:3:
Oh yeah the US Top Gear.......ain't gonna last
