Hello Sir

Thank you,I like the colour combi of youre car.I have a 635 csi standing back for restoring,it will be black schwarz(shadowline)and will have yellow lights.(I planning to make a sleeper turbo e24)with s38 engine,gt40 turbo, tremec gearbox, tilton 3way clutch,2.93 210mm diff with limited slip from the e23 745i.but first build the e31.because I want to build up the power.when I build the turbo first, after that car avery car will be slower.the plan is to put 600 bhp on the wheels.I start soon the build pics of the conversion of the e31 from rhd to lhd with the s62,and of the e24 turbo.this is the plan for this year and next year.when you ever are in belgium.youre are welcome.best regards from belgium

Very nice restoration. Where did you get that MTechnic rear valence with the two cut outs? Did you make it yourself?

When you put in the crank from the E34 M5, did you convert all the camshaft sprockets and cam chain tensioners to the dual row versions?

Hello

thank you,I have made him myself.
my other hobby is fiberglass.I have made moulds of the complete body kit.
the more I looked to the off set exhaust, the more I didn't liked it.
and after the z3m and the e46 m3,all m models came with a dual exhaust.
So it was done,I made a exact mirrow view exhaust on the other site.I like this more.
I made a front spoiler dtm lip to for the car.a little one, just for the look

I have changed the engine volume(from 3.5 tot 3.6)
the rest I have not changed.the engine is good driving, the single chain is not bad.you only have to change him after some distance.

Dinan Engineering built a turbo M635 with the S38 motor back in the mid eighties. You might check out what they did, because many of these did not survive. Too much power for the head gaskets to handle. It is featured in an Autoweek article, Jan 18, 1988 by George Levy.

See the attached. I know a number of these have made it to Fahey's shop with blow head gaskets. Very pricey to fix as everything was custom made by Dinan.

The reason I asked was I thought the cam chain sprocket on the E34 M5 crank was dual row, and the original S38 Euro 1985 had single row cam chain sprockets. To use the E34 crank, you need to convert to the later US version (1988+) dual row cam chains, sprockets, and tensioners.

thank you for the info

maybey they have put to much boost on the engine or bad quality head gaskets.
I think with the new type geskets, and when not going higher then 1 bar the engine will last longer.
I will post pics soon of the build.

greatings

yes you are correct, that one haves dual row
my engine tuner have done this,I must ask him.I have give hime the crank.
when I did this my tuner told me to look for a 3.6 crank.
that give very cheap more power to a non kat version.
maybey he have cut of one row.the 2 things I not do myself is engine tuning and restoring and painting and welding.do not want to invest in all those special parts and tools and materials.I live that on the specialists.
the rest I try to do myself.
