Re: How many?

Hi There,

Good to hear from another E34 M5 UK LE Car Owner.

I have Car No 35/50, which is also an Orinoco Green Model - you should speak to Karl (M5touregister )who is currently compliing an unofficial register of all of the UK LE cars that were built.

Information is limited to just a few cars, although hopefully that will change as the whereabouts of the cars grows over time.

Currently cars I've heard of so far, and their owners are :-

02/50 - Rosso - M5 powered<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_373009", true); </SCRIPT>
14/50 - Orinoco - AndyE<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_372721", true); </SCRIPT>
??/50 - Rosso - Brian M5

Good Luck.

Re: How many?

As I understand it was 25 green and 25 red. However whether all these were sold is another matter as the car cost £60K !!!!!

From taking note over the last few years you harldy ever see the rosso red for sale. Plenty of green uns. In fact I looked at one with 50K on the clock. However it was in shabby condition and I really don't get on with that colour.

I can however tell you that a number of ltd. cars were nicked from a showroom, well according to one of the Sytner sales directors that loves 'em.

Re: How many?

There are odd and even cars with Orinoco and Rosso, this also goes for the VIN numbers, odd and even ones with each colour.

1/50 - Orinoco - Board member "RichardFathers", this car was the one on Top Gear and is located on the Isle Of Man.

02/50 - Rosso - Board member "M5Powered", is the 3rd Vin number.

8/50 - Orinoco - 98k miles, was for sale in Luton recently.

14/50 - Orinoco - Board member "AndyE"

17/50 - Rosso - Was for sale May 2003 at 100k, bought by board member ember "BrianM5"

18/50 - Rosso - In Bournemouth, is almost certainly the best condition remaining of the 50 built, a real showroom Queen.

19/50 - Rosso - Was in Top Marques for sale in Bradford, Sept 2003

33/50 - Orinoco - Board member "Zippy"

35/50 - Orinoco - Board member "FinalEditionE34M5"

46/50 - Orinoco - No further information

49/50 - Orinoco - Was in Autotrader and Ebay May 2003

50/50 - Rosso - Board member "E34SE#50"

If anyone can add any more, then do so via email to ivan at abcwarrior.com or post here. I will edit the information into this post and delete the information post to keep clarity and ease of reading.

Once near complete, I will set up a LE page on my website which is being updated at the moment.

I know the owner, lives near me.

He had a Sierra Cosworth, and I saw it four times in three years. Sunny weekends, all of them, out of the garage, off for a drive, then a full valet and wax, including underbody, then back into the garage.

A while back it disappeared, and my (now ex) girlfriend said she saw one of "my" cars in the garage when it was left open one day, a very rare occurence.

Four months went by before I saw it, only the rear in the shadow of the garage, and yes it was an M5.

A year and a half later, this summer of 2003, it was parked outside, (on the road - shock horror!!), as some building work was underway in the garage.

It is a absolutely perfect LE in rosso red with the cream leather interior. There are plastic sheets over the seats, front and back. The interior shows ZERO signs of wear, marks or use.

The M-Parallel wheels are perfect, the tyres regulation jet black with the little bobbles on them.

The paint has ZERO dinks, scratches, stonechips or marks. I could not see a single swirl mark from polishing. It shone. I looked over it for about ten minutes, I found no flaw.

I have not seen it since, I have never seen it leave, arrive, or being driven.

It is guaranteed to be the best condition M5 LE.
I would hazard a guess that it is the best condition M5 period, except for maybe that one in the German dealer earlier this year with 1km on the clock.

But. And it`s a big but. I drive mine every day, I know it pretty well, what it likes, how it brakes, when it wants to let go. I`m really not sure that I could swap my tired old 3.6 for his perfect 3.8 if it came with the issue that I couldn`t drive it more than once or twice a year!!!

Mmmm..... maybe he keeps happy with the giant old style Model T thing behind it in the garage, or his E34 535i, or his E28 535i, or his runabout Citroen, or his E28 M5, or his other E28 M5.

Nice guy. Could do with his money and lifestyle, but I`d sure have to buy another M5 to have as a daily!!

Re: How many?

The only problem is that with such little use he is probably doing more harm than good. Anything less than a good 50 mile run out each month WILL cause the engine seals / pipes to perish. That is why if my job demands me to dart into London anymore, I'd rather sell the LE than leave it to rot in the garage. Our next door neighbour managed to incur a £5K bill on his 20K mile Escort Cosworth by not using his enough.

As for mine, the paint work with the exception of three stone chips is flawless .The interior is virginal with only a few cracks on the drivers seat.
In fact everyone thinks I've had the interior all replaced and car re-sprayed.
I too thought of using mine less than the 4K a year it does. But at the end of the day, these cars are never going to be worth THAT much money and I can get more pleasure by actually driving the thing.

He`s not a stupid man. I suspect that he knows this and either runs it, or takes it out when I don`t see him. He appears to either work from home or be retired early, so maybe he does it during the day. Don`t know.

My thoughts exactly. I could not do without my M5.

wow, good to know that -finally- something is happening - as mentioned
I do also work on a LE-register as a side-project to the other LE-cars and the
M5touring-register, I do also have a number of built-sheets for these cars -
perhaps I even have a 'scoop', a detail which so far has not been mentioned
by anyone, anywhere, best to my knowledge -
01/50 - is now owned by -Richard Fathers- (a member here)
02/50 - is the 3rd VIN (not as one wud assume the 2nd :)
14/50 - I wud be interested in the VIN !!
33/50 - again the VIN is of interest !!
-
I will try to get the built sheets for ALL of these which as u might know is not
all that easy :crying: :crying: -
by I do have 15 built-sheets already and if U are lucky YOUR car is amongst
these :byebye:
send me a private msg if u do not wish to make the VIN public :nono:
-
to send a copy of the register I wud need e-mail-addresses, in abt 2 weeks
the first draft of the register will be ready - I cud also send it to -Ivan- only
for him to publish it on his web-site, any good ?? :byebye:

Karl

My email address is [email protected].

mine - #14 of 50 is GE00335.

Also, number 8 of 50 was recently for sale here in the UK on Autotrader.co.uk - it's Orinoco too, and was advertised in Luton, Bedfordshire:

I also read about #46 of 50, owned by [email protected] - that one's Orinoco too. He claimed it was the last green one.

Lastly, there's the one which was featured on TopGear last month - Orinoco. I think the owner's name is Richard, but I don't know what number it is.

Mine has done 96K miles but has been exceptionally well looked after, even by the previous fine toothcombe owners.

hmmm..15 in red and 35 in green!! would fit and explains why the Rosso Red ones are so few and far between. Nice to know that Rosso Red and Champagne (BMW's finest hour) is even more exclusive!

Only 15 in Rosso. It is rarer than I thought. Must be just you and me on here then Jonathon.

Mines looks great too despite the mileage - Just a bit senior to Jonathons and pulling away perhaps.

Keeping it in the garage is just not an option for a car like this. It pi***** me off when I see Ferraris (or other exotica) doing minute miles. How the hell do people know how good they are. They must forget between the perfect day sunday runs. Or is it cos Clarkson tells them whether they are great or not.

Nope - Get them out and thrash them. It's what they like best(Between visits to dealers).

Hi All,

I am Lucky enough to have the last one.

50/50 in Rosso with about 40k on the clock.

Bought from Sytners in Notts about 2 years ago.

Currently can be seen cruising around Herts and Beds.

Regards

Zippy = 15+35 (not 25+25), running VIN coupled with colour of car, WOW !!
YES, pls, drop me an e-mail to [email protected]-
(did u get that from BMW UK ?? I believe it when I see it
E34SE#50 = are you sure it is the last ?? they are NOT numbered in
chronological order !! what are the last 3 figures of the VIN
of your car ?? -
-
also pls remember, the UK-edition cars, are the LAST of the UK RHD-production, they are NOT the last produced E34 M5s, production of LHD cars
and M5tourings continued, the very last of the UK RHD LE-cars has a production date of -JUNE 2ND, 1995- whereas the te previous 28 VIN-cars were all built in -MAY 1995-
