finally got the final price for the E60 M5's in HK... yeah.. all our cars are pretty much pre-spec'd from factory.. not much we could do about options, except for colors, etc... wish they would leave out some stuff to have optional.. and it's kinda funny how they throw in the list nearly everything they could.. airbags? lol... they might as well have put in Engine, rear seats, and items like those as well... Anyways I think first cars will be arriving next month...

so, if I read correctly,

The window trim is high gloss satin Chrome?

You have solid & metallic paint options. Are they different than the four colors identified for Europe(blue, bronze, silver & sapphire/black)?

Any option for bluetooth? voice activated controls for i-drive?

when you get your M5 you should bring the vehicle to the Shatin BMW body shop... only when your car is dirty or something. They do a good job! Thats because my uncle is the manager there. just a suggestion!

Is he going to do it for free? :hihihi:

Always looking for a bargain;)! Thanks for sharing the prices with us.
Hi tfung,

Seems both Australia & Hong Hong have huge markups & import taxes on their cars. The M5 here including registration, delivery & on-road costs is AUS$242500 which on conversion to HK$ equates to HK$1473000 which is pretty much the same. Interestingly our cars are also exactly the spec as yours...

Steve..
We're grouped as Asia-Pacific. Limited cars tend to come close to fully loaded. Expect similar story with the M6.
how many cars are allocated for BMW HK?
any grey market imports?
Merino leather instead of nappa? Are they the same thing?

of course not.. for god sakes.. its a M5 they are going to re-condition . btw ur M5 first stop will be PDI in yuen long for pre-delivery inspection.
Terrence,

So what's your color combo ? BTW, how's the family's 760Li ?
760Li? lol.. I wish... it was a 745....

I think Merino leather is quite different from Nappa... Merino is generally softer and thicker, while Nappa is smoother to the touch... I don't remember exactly, but I think Merino comes with the Individual packages...

As for the numbers of cars they're bringing into Hong Kong, not really too sure.. I'm hearing about more and more people who put down deposits for one.. I think they list is about 50 people now, tho the dealer thinks as many as half the people will be dropping off due to the high price compared to the E39 M5 before... I'm like number 20ish on the list, and they promised me I'll get the car before the end of the year... seems kind of impossible, since for the E39 M5, they brought in one car per month during the first year of production. They have still yet to deliver a customer car, or even have a demo car to arrive. I know about 10 people on the list, and none have been asked to select color yet. I'm trying to persuade them to let me do an Individual color, but everytime I ask they look at me like I'm crazy or something.

And no, no grey market BMWs here in Hong Kong. Only 1 official dealer. Seems kind of funny when there are hundreds of grey market Mercedes dealers around.

Hi Tfung,

I think you will find the first year of the E39 M5 production was very limited due to the time it was taking them to manufacture the engines. I am not sure whether it was 25 per day, or per week, but they weren't producing a lot.

Should bode well for both of us waiting on 2005 delivery..
