Hi and M5 running temperature

First of all, Hi! I've just got my 2001 M5, Le Mans Blue, 22000miles (yip), one owner, BMW history and warranty. So I'm chuffed. Traded in my 1998 M3...

But a question for you. I've done a search and read through the tacho lights thread but I'm still not certain about what lights should go off.

My car (even after a 100 mile+ drive) doesn't seem to get the water temp needle at the 12 o'clock position, it's more like 11. The oil temp used to get close to 100 on the M3, but on the M5 it only seems to reach say the 7 o'clock position, I don't know, 90 degrees?

And the final orange light between 6500 and 7000rpm never goes out.

Do I have a likely thermostat problem or is this normal? I'd like to know before I make an *** of myself taking it to the main dealer...

Thanks!
Andy

Temp is normal...the S62 V8 has a pretty darn good cooling system, only after running it hard should you even see it move.

As for the tach lights, the last one will never go out as it is the indicator for the caution range for the rev limiter.

Congrats
