Help: MB 63 AMG or M5?

Not sure of this topic was already discussed, but I am going to be leasing a new car in the next 1 month and have hard time deciding: MB63 AMG vs M5 (SMG).

I've already visited BMW and MB dealers and got the pricing. MB is offering a good deal, and both M5 and E63 are in the same price range 1300-1400 per month 15K/year, 24-27months.

I really like both cars, but wanted to get your opinion realizing this is a BMW forum.

I test drove M5 and love it, my dad has 2008 M5 stick.
What are some of the pros and cons for each car? Which one is faster, which handles better and more fun to drive?
How do both rate in reliability and build quality?

Thanks you all in advance.

Albert.

This has definitely never been discussed.
MB vs BMW

Overall, I will never get another MB. Their service is terrible. I've owned multiple MBs (4 total) and have nothing but issues with noise, faulty navs, and engine problems. I don't even want to get started on the electrical gremlins that come along with MB's. I think MB makes good looking cars and the AMG is fast, but the bugs prevent any further considerations of purchasing one. Which one do you like more when you drive it? The M5 seemed solid and connected. Good luck with your choice!
your buying a sports car in the winter, idk. maybe you should decided weather this will be a daily driver vs a weekend joy ride, and make your decision from there.

This will be a daily driver.

And I guess the reason I am doing in the winter cause my lease is up on another car and MB is running special on E63s now. But comparing to M5 it is marginally cheaper. So I am trying to figure out what your experiences are with M5. Has anyone owned E63 and M5 that could share their view?
There is a NEW E-Class Model coming out in less than a year! They are offering you a good deal because the E63 as a whole as been a flop and with the new body you will take a HUGE LOSS. M5 all the way. And just so you know, I am an AMG Fan!
I would say, for a daily driver....buy the MB, why not anybody can drive one of those, from a Geek to a Brain to anybody that has never driven a car before...:confused3
.
To own a BMW, especially an M5 it takes a person who really appreciates a fine car and a car that needs an experienced driver to tame it...So if you or anyone you know fits this criteria then I would have to say,M5.:dunno:
Watch this;)

even if it is so, I would never get the first year model, too risky, lots of bugs. I'd rather wait. Also, I will be leasing anyway so it does not really matter.

Why is E63 a flop, can you elaborate? What is the problem with E63?

Is it really that hard to drive M5-SMG? I drive stick, so stick is not a problem for me. However, as a daily driver it could become somewhat annoying.
no, i didn't mean it would be hard to drive the m5 as a daily driver, just for ME i don't have as much fun driving it daily because i can't enjoy it as i think i should enjoy it at 8,000 rpm...thats all...the M5 is such a nice "DRIVER" meaning to be drivin like it was designed......

I was looking at the CLS63 before I bought my M6.
E63 is faster then M5 but M5 handles better and def. more fun to drive.
I would say get the MB if you are looking for fast and comfortable ride.
BMW is more exciting, free maintenance, better quality interior, sounds better and I think M5 looks better than E63.
M5!!! or M6!!!

Thanks. What about the quality of the audio system of E63 and M5. I know both have iPod interface and I beleive both are Harmon Kardon. However is there any significant differences in audio quality and sound.

my car I with enhanced premium audio and it soudns amazing.
Tough choice. I had 02 M5 and 05 E55. BMW always drive better than the Merc.
But just get the M5 -- since the E will be getting new body pretty soon.
Very simple, want a car that looks good and is only good for straight line speed and braking? Go for the E63

Want a car that is blistering fast and handles brilliantly? Go for the M5. Did i forget to mention that its a drivers car which is the reason why car ethusiasts choose BMW over MB. :7:

Thats what i do. Enjoy it and take to 8250 rpm when i feel like it :1:
