Hi old M5 buddies,

Well after my old M5 (beastpower's car), I now sold my TT and Cayenne and got a replacement (RS6). I was looking at the new E55 but no AWD to go skiing. The new M5 not for me as I am not in love with the styling.

2003 Daytona Gray with Black Interior, CF Trim, Miltek Full Exhaust/Flow cats, GIAC software with 3 modes (91 Stock, 91 race and 100 race), RS6+ Pedals, Euro Front and Rear lights, Sportec 19's with 285 rubbers, Clear Armor protection, Valentine One (needs to be hardwired), Sirius, Diverter Valves.

Not dynoed yet but should be around 540+HP/550+TQ on 100 gas.

WoW Fred,

That's some car.  The GIAC chip alone upped the power that much?

Glad you're enjoying a full variety of super-cars.

Hey, Fred -

Welcome back. I sold my TT too. Took it in the shorts. Aaargh.

I drove an RS6 - very impressive car, and they fixed a lot of the sins with the stock A6 in terms of transmission behavior. Still, I found the steering feel a little less "connected" than the M5, even though it is probably faster in a turn thanks to the AWD. But I only had a 1/2 hour street drive. I'll be interested to hear what you think of it after you've logged some track miles.

Enjoy!!!

Very nice. I am a skier as well and sometimes I wish I had bought an S4 over my m3 just for those trips up to the mountians.

Btw... How's the new house? I saw your TT on Middle Ave a few months ago and from your site seems you've moved to MP. My parents live just down the street on Vine.

Hi Greg,

So you did sell your 996tt. I remeber that car well. Anytime you need a fix, let me know and you can take my RUF out on your favorite roads.

At least you still have your M5, now all fixed up and ready to go.

Lets' keep in touch.

RS6 was my second choice. Love the Sportecs. Giac flashloader...very good option there. The only thing I don't like about the RS6 is there is no full screen NAV. I know you can retrofit the unit but you have to get it from Germany. What a stupid oversight from Audi on an $80K car.

Yeah, that and the "oversight" of no manual transmission! :haha:

Wow - beautiful car. Never met you - but have seen your old 996 Turbo around - the one with the tire track down the middle, right? I think I saw it on craigslist too...

I really liked the RS6. I had an A4 2.8Q before - the only thing that killed the A6/RS6 for me was no manual transmission. But that said, I was also looking for a normally aspirated V8 engine. (too much mod opportunity for the Turbo engine!!! :) )

BTW - does the RS6 have rack & pinion steering?

Cheers,
-Darryl

Fred,

Good to hear from you once again. When I first say the title, I thought you had purchased a Japanese car. Not that those reliable autos are bad, just not the same "sole" as the M5. Sorry to hear about the auto tranny though.

Nice car Fred. Good luck with it. My experience with the RS6 is limited to spending about half an hour sitting in one on a showroom floor. The interior makes for a terrific place to spend time. Very nicely appointed.

a friend of mine traded in his 00 M5 on a RS6, he loves it and says the performace is very good. I have not had a change to ride in it but it does sound very nice with the optional factory exhaust.
