Hi Guys
Just to say hi and i'm a new M5 owner, just bought a '93 3.8 m5 with the EDC and all the toys. I've got a few questions to start though:

Oil is leaking from the engine just in front of the sump, what's likely to cause this- the oil cooler?

The final drive gearbox is leaking oil, are these easy to remove and replace the output shaft oil seal?

My steering has excessive play - we're talking a few cms, I've narrowed this down to being in the steering box, not ball joints, can I adjust this as with some advice on the net or am i better replacing it? - at about £800 no doubt fitting myself.

Oh yeah and finally where's the proper jacking points for this car for a trolley jack?

I'm fairly experienced at DIY mechanics so won't have a problem if these jobs are relatively straight forward.

They all have some play in the steering from straight ahead, but there should be no play once it is loaded up into a turn. The box can be tightended to reduce some of the play, but it can only be tightened so many times before this method stops being effective.

If you still have your air deflectors on under the engine then the trolley jack cannot sit on the subframe as the deflector is in the way - the best way I have found is to use the trolley jack with a cunningly shaped piece of wood or rubber and put that in the channel that forms the normal stirrup jack point.
