Anyone know of a good Garage to get my engine checked out to see if it is running correctly and get a dyno done.
Car runs good, sometimes feels a bit rough at idle and smells like it's running rich.
It's got a straight through exhaust, but no ECU update so occasional missfire.

Shuggy, I have a great expert in Kilmarnock who looks after my M5 and another thereabouts who tunes & looks after my highly tuned Integra Type R - he's also got all the wideband sensors etc that can tell how it's running.

Mail me at [email protected] if you want some details.

I used A.V.A to dyno my E34, not an M specialist but has the rolling road and should be able to tell you whats wrong, mind you I don't think I'd let them do any repairs

or BM Motors is recommended by BMW Car Club members, don't think he has dyno but knows his M cars

or if you fancy a run you could try Star Performance in Kirkcaldy, he's more VW/Audi orientated but does have a good dyno set up. I used this guy for some work on my VR6

hope this helps

I can vouch for BM Motors, Davy's a good bloke, more an old school mechanic than a performance tuner, however he did notice that my car was hunting and running a bit lumpy, suggested coil packs and valve clearances - done, problem solved. I know he maintains a few e34 M's and several e30 M3's.
Doesn't charge to much either.
The guy nebpor uses seems to on the ball as well.
Cheers,
Phil.
