Hi, New to this forum but not to BMW's. Have owned E9's and and E34 touring. Have and E86 and an F32.

I recently bought a 91' M5. Discovered one of the rear tabs on the transmission is cracked/Broken. The transmission shifts fine. I am exploring options.
I can get the rear housing. This is likely the ideal solution.
Anyone have a housing piece they might let go of for a reasonable cost?
If not, welding? (don't thick welding a cast part is ideal)

Any other ideas?

You can absolutely TIG weld it and be confident in its strength. . . depends on what you will pay for welding (shouldnt be much) versus the rear housing.

Looks like the rear casing is available still. The cost is high but would be comparable to the cost of a high quality weld. Thanks for the input. Ne casing on the way!
