2007 M6 sliver red interior 34,xxx miles but I'm skeptical about it because the carfax states it hit a curb . I seen the car in person and it looks like clean . Im not sure if it's still under warranty and it's not frm a BMW dealer so I doubt it's CPO should I look elsewhere? Thanks in advance for the help I don't wanna jump the gun and end up with a lemon

M6///PowerBuRR,

When in doubt, walk. There are too many other great cars available without dodgy histories. These are wonderful vehicles but they can be extremely problematic and EXPEN$IVE if things go awry. Unless you are in a real hurry take your time and look for CPO vehicles. They are currently offering some pretty good deals, including a day of M Driving School if you purchase by May 1, I believe.

I suggest you begin by searching the BMW site under the CPO tab. Don't let the pricing scare you, there is quite a bit of margin built into the pricing. Once you have determined the applicable information for any special offers, print it out and take it to the dealer. They will probably be woefully uninformed.

Additionally, search this site for advice on negotiating, what to be wary of, and general good tips to purchase your first M6. These are the most knowledgable, open, and welcoming owners I have ever encountered. I have only had my M6 90 days as of tomorrow and they have helped me immensely.

Good Luck,
Milton

I agree on everything MKsixer said.

When in doubt - walk. There will be plenty more M6 available out there.
Buy the one that sounds right, looks right and you can confirm everything is right.

And for peace of mind on future repairs - find a CPO.
There are plenty of them out there, just need a little patience.

You need to find out what the "in service" date is on the car to determine if it is still under the factory warranty. I just bought a '07 a couple of months back, and the factory warranty goes through the end of Dec 2011. Mine also passed the CPO inspection, but I was given the option from my dealer to purchase it or not for $3k+, which I did not and decided to go with the 7yr/100k mile BMW warranty, which covers just about everything, which the CPO does not. It was worth the extra $$ to me....
So keep that in mind.....just because it is not a CPO doesn't mean you can't purchase an extended BMW warranty. I would find out what the in service date is, and if it still has several months left on the factory warranty, then have it checked out from your local dealer to make sure there are no issues.....if everything checks out, then go for it

In service is the date that the car was either purchased or used as a demo. Demo includes as transportation for a salesperson. If used as a demo or salesperson transportation, that will add 3 months and 5,000 miles to the warranty.

How is the search coming?

Call your local dealer's service dept with the vin # and they should be able to tell you the in service date.
Mine was a demo car I found out....so it added an additional 3 months to the warranty as Mksixer mentioned. Doesn't apply to the maintenance warranty though....according to my SA. It still expires at 4yr/ 50k miles

Listen to all the advice given sir. I also STRONGLY recommend that you find a local import mechanic and pay him to do an inspection on the car for you. That way you can have someone in your employ give you an honest assessment on the car. It will probably cost you about 200 cash to have your own "quality" independent import mechanic specialist to look at the car for you. But that is a small price to pay for your investment. Obviously you know these cars arent cheap in there stock versions. If you plan on modding the car you are going to put some serious cash down before you are done. All these things considered, you need to have your own mechanic look at the car before you buy.

If it was in an accident, RUN, don't walk away. You don't need the hassle.
