2000 BMW 740i Sport - 6 Speed Manual S62 4.9L V8 Swap
Clean Title
Original Sport short wheel base E38 with Black Sport interior.
143k miles (roughly same miles on M5 motor)
18” M Parallel Staggered OEM Wheels with Conti Tires with ~50% remaining.
Paint corrected and ceramic coated (Nov 2019)
20% 3M tinted
M5 Drivetrain Swap
S62 4.9L from 2001 M5
6 Speed Manual Transmission from M5 Donor car
3.15 Limited Slip M5 Differential
A/C climate control fully functional
M5 exhaust system including headers, catalytic converters. Rear resonator before mufflers deleted/removed and SuperSprint mufflers installed (Deep sounding but fairly quiet)
M5 Steering Wheel and Gauge Cluster
Swap was done in 2017 by a previous owner.
All test procedures, calibrations, and service functions can be performed normally. All wiring matches factory wire colors so original wiring diagrams can be referenced for diagnostic purposes. The M5 key is used to start the engine (M5 ignition lock cylinder is installed) and perform all remote functions such as locking and unlocking.
New Parts during the swap include: New spark plugs, thermostat, all filters, some coolant hoses, oil filler cap, valve cover gaskets all replaced with new OEM parts. New M5 clutch disc, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, clutch master and slave cylinders.
Other modifications:
750iL Front rotors and Caliper upgrade.
Bilstein Sport dampers installed front and rear w/ H&R Sport springs.
E60 short shifter w/ new ZHP 6spd weighted shift knob, all new OEM bushings and shifter joint.
10” Android Head unit with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, also includes the adapter and app to restore all bmw obd functions from the stock head unit. Upgraded door speakers.
Rear Red/Clear tail lights from 2001 E38
Recent Maintenance
Front Upper and Lower Control Arms (TRW OE Brand, not the cheap stuff) - 142k
Oil Change - 142k
750iL rebuilt and painted front calipers 141k
F+R New coated rotors, brembo brake pads and rear parking shoes 141k
Diff Fluid 141k
New front OEM Clear corners 141k
Fuel Breather Valve 141k
Items that may require attention soon:
Headliner is starting to sag at the rear. (Was planning to have redone before lockdown, could be done before sale or worked into the price)
Needs an alignment, I was planning to have this done, but put it on hold because of lockdown.
Wheels could use a balance, I noticed some very slight vibration at certain highway speeds, I think some of the weights might have fallen off while cleaning the wheels.
Otherwise this car is ready to go with no issues.
$17,000 obo
Reasonable offers will be considered but should be presented with the understanding that this vehicle represents a significant investment of professional labor in addition to the cost of parts. This is not a showroom low mileage garage queen, those have sold for 3x-5x my asking price, so don’t expect perfection. The interior and exterior shows little wear no major scratches or dents, few small imperfections (small hard to notice dents on driver side doors), but really good considering it’s a 20 yr old car. Agreed Value classic car insurance is very reasonable. No rush to sell, but I no longer need this car since I am working from home 100% starting in Jan before the lockdown and I would like to reduce the size of my fleet.
