I have a Brembo 4-wheel big brake kit for sale - asking $3500. I took it off my own car yesterday. It has less than 20,000 miles on it, all street. The rotors have lots of life left in them. Front rotors measure 31.4mm thick (32mm originally) and rear rotors measure 27.9mm thick (28mm originally). Pads are 50% worn, but I'll put in brand new pads before I send the kit out. This is the Brembo 1B1.8010A front kit and 2C1.8002A rear kit which list for $6090. See http://www.zeckhausen.com/BMW/E39_M5.htm for a complete product description.

I'll take some photos today after I've cleaned the brake dust off the calipers and installed the new pads.

Here's what they looked like on the car:

Brembo BBK under my 17" Style 66M wheels

Front brakes under my 18" Style 37 wheels

Rear brakes under my 18" Style 37 wheels

I take it their sold, Josh
Not quite yet. I promise to get the photos up on Sunday. I'm installing a 4-wheel BBK on an M3 today, starting in 30 minutes. Then off to a wedding. On Sunday, I'll wash the rest of the calipers, install new pads and take the beauty shots.

I have 3 requests, so far, to split the brakes up (front/rear). I'm not going to do that. It's a complete 4-wheel set. In my opinion, the Brembo front kit shouldn't be run without the rear because of balance issues.

Dave I am curious why did you swap the brembos for the stop techs? Are you doing your own comparision for business purposes or do you prefer them over the Brembos?

Several reasons.

StopTech is about to release a 2-piston rear kit that fits under the factory M5 rear wheels. It allows folks who purchased a StopTech front-only kit to upgrade the rear brakes without having to replace their wheels. And, if you recall, the Stoptech front-only kit uses smaller pistons than the front half of their other 4-wheel kit. So if you wanted to upgrade your rear brakes to the StopTech 4-piston, you would also have to change your front calipers. Not so with this kit. The 2-piston upgrade is compatible with the front-only kit. I wanted to experience this kit first-hand, since I expect to sell a lot of them.

Second reason is that I like to experiment. This will be the fourth set of brakes on this car. The first set, obviously, was the stock brakes. Next came a Mov'it 4-wheel kit. Then the Brembo. Now the StopTechs. The nice thing about the latest kit is that I no longer need any spacers under my rear wheels. So that's really two more reasons. Experimentation and lack of spacers.

And finally, I like a firm pedal. The StopTech set-up has the firmest pedal feel of any of the other systems that I've tried to date. They feel terrific.

Here are the pictures I promised. Now I'll go back and sort through all the emails and PMs to determine who is first in line. If you haven't already contacted me, you might as well not bother. Folks jumped all over this very quickly. I just need to sort out who got to me first.

I didn't like the look of one of the fittings on the right front brake line. So I discarded both front lines and am including brand new lines with the kit. It was probably fine, but that's not something I'm willing to take a chance on. So the buyer gets an extra bonus. :)

My Brembo calipers got knicked up at the $tealership. What do you recommend for touch-up paint?

Thanks,

Reserection of an old thread.

So Dave...do you still have your M5???
With the StopTech's on???
Every few months you pop up on a new forum, pretending to be an enthusiast with no financial interest in the brake business, and then you start bashing StopTech and posting all sorts of crazy misinformation.

Memory lane?

Anyone else notice the similarity in user profiles?

Unless you've turned over a new leaf and you're really here to add to the community, rather than start a fight, I just don't have the time or energy go down this road again. It's too tiring.
