I bought a set of H&R Front Springs. Just called a local indy shop and got a quote of $298. Also said I'd need an alignment for an additonal $100. Is that in the ballpark or should I look elsewhere? Thanks!!!!
Okay... so that quote is probably fair. Yeah..I wanted to tackle it by myself. Just not sure if I was going to have the time to do it. I may just wait and do it on my own. No real rush right now. Thanks!2-3 hours of labor should be pretty average. You could also DIY
a shop should easily be able to do the front in less than 2 hours. The front is very very easy. I did my front springs in less than an hour with a lift and spring compressor.
..and then again here..That's something that a kid with a $2K Camaro and no money would do.
I took your post into consideration, but chose not to respond. The problem with your post is you educated me on the cons of installing springs but then you followed them with unecessary comments. It's like a teacher telling a student "No! No! No! This is the way you do it, stupid!" I appreciate your advice and info in the beginning of your post, but it needed to end right there. Thanks.Folks don't just change the springs, if they are wise & experienced. You're not patching together a $900 Ford Taurus with a busted spring to sell in the Sunday paper.
You were obsessed with the cost of a pair of springs & the labor charge to install them, down to the dollar. This immediately set off an alarm in my head because I've seen it 100 times before and it's a strategy for failure that's many folks follow..........I took your post into consideration, but chose not to respond. For some reason..this doesn't scream obsessed to me. I simply wanted to know if it was in the ballpark because I wasn't sure how long the job actually takes. I've read a few other spring install threads and the service prices were varying. That's it. Unfortunately, I didn't see any posts from you on those. You made your point. H&R Front Springs only...bad. CHECK!I bought a set of H&R Front Springs. Just called a local indy shop and got a quote of $298. Also said I'd need an alignment for an additonal $100.
