From my recent experiences, and after reading a lot here, I think I've figured out the combo that gives the smoothest SMG ride, traffic or just generally around.

I found that D4 along with P500 seems to give a good response. D5 is better on open roads because of the longer shift points. D1-D3 are too jerky, although setting it to P500 does help that a bit. D4 just kind of sits there but it had most of what I'm looking for during the beginning/end portions of my drive where I'm back in town.

Plus, when you need to start S-ing it for whatever reason [stupid 350Z], you're already in P500... just as easy as hitting the M button. Although your EDC and other settings won't go on.

Meh, I tried driving in D again the other day, just can't... it never shifts when I want to, its too fast, too slow, won't go into 7th... D is just rubbish to me. Just never use it anymore now that the phone is on bluetooth
