Brings a tear to the eye I know!
I thought at first that I needed a short shift kit (either that or some M-tech Viagra), but it turns out that the box needed a new set of bushes and my local dealer - Lind BMW - sorted it all out in one day and under warranty.
Back to the same old happy (and stiff) gear lever - bliss!!

This has happened to me as well.

The bushings were replaced by my dealer under warranty.

It really bothered me - there was a good... well... it felt like an inch of gearstick travel while in neutral. The lever itself wasn't moving through the box, but the stick would just wiggle in place. VERY FRUSTRATING.

And soon again I am going to have to have them replaced one more time.

Any concensus on why this occurs??

Thinking about putting a Z4 3.0 shifter in my car for $100 to shorten things up a bit.
