Gidday out there,

I have my car coming in the first round to Australia, expected June.

But I guess there will be some delay.....

Does anyone know if there a some dates firming up as yet.

Are there any members in the first round with me?

Cheers,

Dave

Dave, I've been told that my car is May build with July delivery. You've reminded me to check on progress.

Mark
I'm supposed to be third on Stillwell's list and I've been told June build and
August delivery.
But I won't be holding my breath.
Anyone here or you know of anyone who has driven the M5/M6, test out the SMG III, brakes, handling etc. in Australia?

The dealers would have, but of course they will tell you the story you want to hear.
Spoke to my dealer today. Looks like mine is now being built in June...

Dave, have you been offered a drive day yet? My dealer offered me a trip to Melbourne to drive the M5 at a track with some hot laps with Geoff Brabham - as well as other cars including the new 750i. I said no - too much time to get there and back, all for a few laps.

Mark
Hi Mark,

I know it's only a few hours but the experience of a Hot lap or two with Geoff Brabham would me memorable. I still remember the hot lap he took me on at Malalla a couple of years ago in a Z8.. Absolutely fantastic..

Cheers Steve..

I would take the opportunity. You'll remember it for the rest of your life.
Do you lucky people currently own an M5?
Are you about to flood the Australian market with 2nd hand m5s?
Therefore depreiciating my M5s value further
$90000 seems to be the current value of a 2000 model
Is a manual version of the new m5 likely to be available in Australia??

No drive day offered as yet, but I did do one a couple of years back at Eastern Creek just before I took delivery of my E46 M3, which now must maek way for the new M5.

I suppose they will offer me a drive day again at Eastern Creek, considering I have ordered the new 7 seat X5 due late '06 and have also ordered the new V8 M3.........

I will be pushing for it don't worry about that!

Cheers,

Dave
Hey Guys,

I have had 3 phone calls on the M5 Drive day.

It seems everyone wants me there. hmmm

I wonder why. ;)

Hint, They want to see Yoda Go head to head with the New M5 on the track.

The last M5 day I went to, Prior to owning the beast, I didn't get chosen for the hot lap.

But when everyone was asked about the M5, I was the only one who liked it way better than the m3's. Everyone else said it was too heavy. (Everyone else was scared of the V-8)

I said I liked it alot, but didn't really get to see how quick it was. I said at this point, I am thinking that my Spanked HSV is faster.....

Well the Dealer Principal looked straight at Geoff and Said, "Take HIM for a DRIVE !!!"

Hell YES did he take me for a drive. The Beast needed four new tyres after the run.

There was not the slightest bit of doubt left in my mind as to how fast the Beast could go. :1: I knew from that moment, I had to Get me one of these.

Then I let Geoff drive my HSV. He had a ball, but said it was a little wild and tail happy. Not as predictable as the M5.

So this time, we shall see how much he likes YODA. (Think Fadeless Brakes with F-1 Brake fluid)

If the new Beast Walks away from Yoda (Which it should), They know what I will do.

I have been invited to a "drive day" (essentially about 2 hrs duration) at Sandown next Wednesday which includes a hot lap with Geoff Brabham.
My dealer has told me that my car is on the ship and to expect delivery mid to late July. Shall advise when I get further updates.

Yep, 8th of July for me at Darlington Park with Geoff B.
I did the drive day today at Sandown.:wroom: The car is unbelievable. Far more advanced compared with my e39 M5 than I had expected.I would advise anyone who is waiting for the manual version to drive the SMG first.

Did a few hot laps with Geoff Brabham :M5launch: and he demonstrated the difference between cornering (in the wet) with full DST, partial DST,and no DST! Amazing.

They had three M5s there.Black, blue and bronze. I thought the bronze looked the best. Probably because thats what I ordered. It certainly stayed the cleanest looking. At a press day on Monday someone had a bingle in the black one and it was fixed overnight.
Spoke to my dealer yesterday. Mine was built first week of June, so should now be on the water. Hearing Tony's report has got me excited again.

I was at the drive too, afternooon session.

In additon to the M5s there was a 750 sport, 645 and 545 sport as well as the latest M3. The M5 was certainly the most sporty, but the 750 was an exceptional car too.

The M5 was doing over 220kph on the back straight without trying and catching the M3 pace car. The seats were amazing. They literally grab your kidneys as you corner - like a massage as you drive. Drove all of the modes 400, 500 and 500S all except for S6 with DSC off. It's the most amazing street-car to hammer around a circuit in.

Sorry, no time for any photos, but the impressions are that it's an amazing bit of kit - drive to work in D mode and then out on the track in 500S mode.
Wow interesting, that you light Sepang the most! Very special colour!
