Extra tinted glass rear

Has anyone selected this option?

I would like to know what degree of tint this
is, e.g. 50% or 60%

BETTER STILL, any online pictures of this option!!!

I like the idea of tinted rear and side windows however don't particularly want to be
mistaken for a pimp ;-)

I have had my window tinted 35% which is the legal limit in Georgia. I like the way it looks and it is a little cooler in direct sunlight too.

Thanks for the feedback, however... I was
talking about the BMW supplied option, I don't think you can specify the percentage, I
have seen pictures of tinted BMW's unfortunatly it's not easy to determine if the
option was supplied by the dealer or the efforts of a DIY job...
To my knowledge BMW does not offer tinting. They have sunshades on the back windows at about $475.00 for the option I think.

Even the dealers for the most part don't offer tinting. They will recommend a local person for tinting though.

I believe I'm correct.

This should be done by a pro not DIY(do it yourselfer).

Most of the pimp cars are DIY though. I saw a purple one the other day with the most beautiful gold shinny spoke wheels on a 75 caddy you've ever seen. The car looked a little tired but the wheels were the brightest you can imagine.

No self respecting pimp would be caught dead in an M5.

Sorry about the reply without any text. But the exstra tinted rear windows are offered by BMW, at least on the Euro versions. If you go to the frontpage of bmwm5.com there are som pictures from the M5 and Z8 meeting in Copenhagen and on the first page you will find one silver, one oxford and one carbon black M5, all with exstra tinted rear windows. I've got some exstra prictures in a larger scale that I can email you directly, if you like.

Regards,

Carsten

we have an option of our rear windows tinted by BMW, as well as the rear side and back sunshades and double glazing...guess it might look like a pimp car, because with shades up, rear windows are completely black, however since we have more than 300 days of sunlight here a year, to keep the interior cool and leather safe, i prefer to look like a pimp

I can send you the pictures of it, if you wish

Thanks carsten and KnightRider, I would realy
appreciate if you could e-mail the pictures to [email protected]

Thanks in advance.

Irfy.
I wanted the sunshade option and tinted windows which BMW does not provide ( I like to use the sunshades when parked in the sun). I took my car to the best window tinter around and had their top grade 30% tint applied to rear window and passenger side windows and "untinted" UV protection film on drivers and right front side windows. I'm very happy with the results. The "Untinted" film has just a hint of shading and is legal in California and helps produce a nice blend from front to back. I have BMW factory tint on my X5 and it's much darker but goes great with the black car color.
