Or at least I think it is the expansion tank. I believe it has a hairline crack round the neck. This leads to overheating (I guess, by letting in air) after spirited driving.

In all other types of traffic conditions except that which I have mentioned earlier I have no overheating problems. The needle stays resolutely in the middle.

I have a '93 3.8.
Does anyone have any experince with this?

All other hoses are securely fastened.

Is there anyway to test that this is the cause of the problem apart from swaping the tank( no extra tank to swap). I first thought it was the seals on the expansion tank cap so I replaced the cap...no luck.

Anyone with ideas?

My expansion tank (91-3.6L) also has a leaking expansion tank. I have replaced the cap/level switch and still have a leak right in that area. I have had not issues with overheating to date though even with the leak.
