Remus or Dinan exhausts work great! I have try both unit on my M5 and none of them have the drone issue compare to other brand. I think the Remus exhaust have a deeper tone compare to the stock unit and the loudness are very civilize until you get to higher RPM, same as for the Dinan it have a similar tone like the stock unit with more of the F1 scream and louder at higher RPM. Both units are great and if you’re looking for a Remus exhaust I have a friend is the rep for the company and I can put you in touch with him.

Purchased RPI Sec 1-3 GT. Had to buy earplugs on a trip to S.F. Super awesome sound with windows down as well with them up when open throttle but cruising had a lot of drone. Come to find out installer didn't install correctly; had about 4 leaks in connections and drone coming into car from underneath. The good folks at RPI (Eloy) and Joe from Trinity assisting took it apart, installed new clamps, and tightened everything up nicely. I jump on it on the freeway with windows down and I'm like, "what the heck, where is my awesome sound"? Not nearly as loud from inside the cab. Have my buddy, later in the day, drive behind me and he states the sound from the actual exhaust was louder but tighter; point being the drone for me, was gone. Just a nice V10 whine remained.

For me, RPI all the way. Now that the drone is gone, it's like music to my ears. Ask Steve/E39, the Biest!!

Hi,
Further to the drone ive got Rasp with a de-catted mid, resonator removed and x pipe added. Does anyone know what causes the 'rasp' as there are loads of threads on how to get rid of it but none what actually say what causes it.
my headers are std and ive left the std backboxes in too as i dont want it too loud but if they have to go to rid the rasp so be it...

regards
Matt

I had the Remus cans fitted up on the weekend. Nice, as stated they are a little deeper at idle and low rpm but scream nice and civilized when thrashed, sounds like the OEM just a little louder and cleaner sound. I rate 'em.
Also so much smaller and lighter (25 lbs) than OEM
OEM tips are 85mm dia these are 90, no a big diff'
I imported them from a reseller in NY, delivered to my door here in Oz for just over 1/2 local retail . Nice , GO the Aussie Dollar !!!
Some picz
Before and Afters a bit mixed up but yoy get the jist

I have become very pessimistic with respect to drone. I bought a system that advertised "no drone on the highway" which turned out to be true. Too bad there was huge "drone" off-idle, and at parking garage speeds. Unfortunately, even though this was only maybe 1% of my driving, it was the most important 1% with respect to how loud it was (setting off car alarms at the hospital parking garage=not good).
When you buy this stuff, think about not only drone on the highway (which affects your commute) but also cold start which is often very different from other operation and affects your neighbors and work colleagues.
The neighbors had ******** painting their house, who came over specifically to make fun of my aftermarket M5 exhaust, because they only heard the cold start. Not a big deal for me, but a sign that every time I started the car with that exhaust it sounded like crap even to a dipshit. They had no idea the full-throttle song felt similar to heroin, but in the end I had to be responsible and give up the good times for responsibility.
