Euro vs. American '00 M5s

To summerize what are the known differences
between US and Euro M5s. I have seen mentioned:
* Floating vs Non brakes
* Rack and Pinion vs Recirculating Ball steering
* Valve stem vs DSC tire pressure control
* clear vs colored turn signals
What else?

1. True about the brakes.
2. True that a valve stem pressure control is an option in Europe and not in the US.
3. Not True about the Steering, all cars are Recirculating Ball
4. Not True about the turn signals (Unless you mean that the European cars have colored turn signals). US cars have clear turn signals.

My understanding is that US buyers do not have as many options to choose/not-choose. That is, most options are standard (e.g. CD Changer, Nav System, etc.).

Haven't seen these options in Europe;

Clear Protective Covering

M5 Logo Carpeted Trunk Mat

Universal Transceiver

Also, the US version have side indicators that glows all the time (correct?) and the Euro model have not.

But in all, US M5 owners are more lucky than the de-tuned US M3 that is way too different than the Euro one.

Isn't there the option of getting double-paned windows in Europe? I haven't heard anything about that here in the U.S.
Actually, the US version side lites do NOT glow all the time - only flash when turn signals are on.

I believe you can get the floating rotors by ordering them seperately and having them mounted on the car. I did that with my M3 after I had gotten my use out of the solid rotors by woarping them several times on the track. I do not know if the dealership will mount them or not, but performance mechanic had no problem with it or you could do it yourself.
The only reason I mentioned the steering is both booklets I have from the dealer say specifically rack and pinion steering and they also have a * which says European specifications. Now it could be that the booklet is just so old they hadn't figured out they couldn't shove a rack under the mighty S62 but I just wanted to confirm it with some people from the list.

Well i don´t think that the steering is different, because the RHD version has the same steering. Or are the US guys so weak? Perhaps that is a point..

The brake thing is also not important, the "floating" system is same good or bad, depends on how you see it, in any case it´s not a true high performance brake system.

All other things are peanuts i think, the car should drive FAST...

Maybe your dealer have mixed-up the M5´s and the Z8´s steering. The Z8 have rack&pinion while the M5 have Recirculating Ball, as mentioned below.
