Escort 9500Ci Radar Detector with Blinder M47

6775 Views 19 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  johnnyo101
I just ordered from one of my distributors an Escort 9500Ci with a Blinder M47 Jamming system. After doing some research, it appears that this is the most lethal combination available.

I have a dealer installing them next week. I am planning on having the control panel, switch, and led display in the ash tray of my M6 Convertible to keep out of site.

Does anyone have any photo's or suggestions regarding the display location and jammer locations?

Thanks in advance.

Below find a link to my install. I only used the Laser jammer from Escort because Laser is not a threat currently where I live. From what I've read I believe the Blinder to be a good choice.

Let me know who installs it and what you think of them as I am thinking of doing the same.

Can you please repost, I followed your link, but there were no attached photo's.

Also, I will supply the installer only after they install, and I am happy with the job. I will post

photo's of the installation as well once completed. If I can be of any assistance acquiring the escort & the blinder, please feel free to send me a pm.

Thanks for reposting. I was able to see the photo's. It appears that you mounted the display and the control panel
similarly in the ash tray.
Did you mount the blockers ? I was unable to see them in the photo.. I guess thats a good thing :)
I just installed the ZR4 jammers that came with the 9500ci. The two front ones are in the air intake below the lights look closely. The ZR4 comes with a single rear shifter that is on the top boarder of the license plate. They blend well with a black car. Being able to hide the controls in the ash tray is nice especially with a vert. A friend of mine who is a State Trooper look the car over and sat in the car was surprised later to learn I had the 9500ci installed.

I am deployed right now so i can not share the Pics of my Blinder M45 Install on my E46 M3.

It is great! Installed everything myself.

Dual "Blockers" in the front bumper on the underside of the Radiator opening, flush mounted and in the Rear in the CSL trunk Lid also in the underside of the License plate on the outside of the lights.

I hope that is understandable ;-)

the Custom V1 enclosure from RacerX is planned next month!!!

there is a thread in here somewhere of an M6 who documented his Blinder Install with great pics...

How did the install go?
The Escort 9500ci and the Blinder 47 went flawless. I will take some pictures later today, provided it isn't raining, and will post my review about the equipment and the installation.
In case it helps your Blinder installer, on the following page I have posted some photos of how my installer did my M27 laser heads up front.

Escort 9500 with Blinder Blocker Installed w photos

Sorry for the delay on the installation details and photo's, but here it is.. I purchased both units through one of my distributors at a discount. I took it to Suburban Auto Radio located in Oaklyn (South) NJ. I browsed the web and various sites, printed pictures, and tood them with me to show them what I wanted and they did an excellent installation.

The control panel, display, and switch are located inside the ashtray. All electronics are located under the dash, and the GPS antenna is located at the base of the drivers side windshield. I removed my cig lighter, and had the laser jammer switch installed there. I had a replacement lighter accessory installed in the arm rest box. I also had the USB cables for both units run to the arm rest box as well. They are for future upgrades. It took about 9 hours @ $80.00 per hour to have installed.

I have enclosed some photo's to display the location of the censers and jammers.

As for the actual notification, I get plenty of notice, almost to much.. some times, to slow down before finding a hiding predator. The laser jammer goes off, the officer gets no reading or error.. like he missed you.. you slow down, flip the switch, and now he gets a reading..
its very sweet. The only down fall is the sense of security you get..

When loading the photo's I noticed I didnt have the rear shots, but I will upload them later..

Hope this helps,
'

Honestly, this is a hard car to drive slow, so everything I can do to limit my potential ticket is greatly helpful.

I like your setup, my controls are not hidden in the ashtray on the right side of the cluster I may move them to the ashtray for concealment. I do have a question, how do you turn off the laser jamming quickly without going into programming mode etc? Nothing in the manual. Thanks.
If you look at the ashtray area, the switch on the left side is the switch for the blocker. It is a 3 position switch. in the II position, that is on and blocking. One click to the 0 position, and the blockers are turned off, and the police get a reading... then 30 seconds later, you switch it back to the II position for the next bad guy.. the I position is for using the blockers as a park distance sencer. Since the M has them built in, I dont use that. I also had a kill switch mounted under the drivers side dash to power off both the radar detector and blocker. I hope this helps..
Appreciate the response but since I have the escort jammers it is obviously different from your setup, sorry for the stupid question.
Escort 9500ci install pics

Just finished up the install of my Escort 9500ci, on my 2008 M6. The pics show the display unit installed in the iDrive display unit. It was really easy to do, just two screws, and the display unit pops right out. I was quoted $750 to install this, and did the entire thing myself in about 6 hours, over two weekend days.

Would love to find out if anyone knows how to connect the radio mute lead from the 9500ci to the radio. While the ci's speaker is loud, it's just not loud enough, especially with the top down.

where did you put the exterior radar detector portion?
Eddie, I removed the passenger side grill, and mounted the radar detector to the aluminum panel cover between the bumper and the radiator frame. Drilled two holes for the mounting bracket, and in it went. I ran the wires for the front laser, and radar detector through the air tube on the passenger side, and notched out a 1/2 inch hole so that the air filter assembly fit normally. Taking the grill out is easy if you have the right tools. You'll need a flat head screwdriver that has a curl to it, and looks like something you'd hook a fish with. I made my own, using an old screwdriver, a blow torch, and some vice grips. If you want some pics, send my your email via PM. Good luck! BTW, it saved me just this morning. Front laser, in a 40MPH zone, Johnny Law sitting in a parking lot, picking off speeders, with two motorcycle cops about 1/4 mile up the road, pulling people over.
