Electric fan temperature sensor

1757 1
I'm about to replace my coolant temperature sensor (in the thermostat housing). I might do the fan sensor (in the radiator hose) at the same time, but I'm not sure if I need to drain the coolant. It's certainly a low mounting, but then it looks like a push-fitting, not a screw-in, so I'm thinking maybe it just touches the outside of the hose rather than penetrating it?

Anyone know for sure if coolant has to be drained to replace this part?

In edit: I have searched TIS but can't find anything about it.
