Hi guys,

I've searched the forum many times about this, but I could not find a 100 % satisfied answer for me.
I'm going to buy a m6 coupé and I like the sound of the eisenmann race (the german not the korean meisterschaft) exhaust in combination with the supersprint x-pipe. I've watched a lot of youtube videos and it sounds amazing, but there's one great problem I've read about in some threads. this exhaust combination loses HP and torque, because there's not enough backpressure :sad3:

The m6 I'm going to buy is direct from a dealer, so I can't do some ECU for the exhaust components, without losing the warranty.

Have anybody of you some dyno facts, that shows me this combination loses or don't loses HP and torque? I won't spend my money in componets that slows my car down.

When I'm install the ss x-pipe must I delete the secondary cat? And how do the secondary cat delete acts of the performance? more loss in HP and torque or it's a gain of performance.

I don't know what I should do.

Greetings from germany,
Phil

I'm waiting for the same thing Phil. I too have searched around and found mixed reviews, some say power loss, some say gain. I would love to X pipe my Eisenmann. The sound is amazing, but until credible info, I have to wait. I don't see how there would be power loss? Its just straight piping the resonator, which is essentially a mini muffler. I would think you would gain power by removing. Well, we'll see I guess :D

When I had my black car I ran a tenth of a second faster in the 1/4 mile with exhaust cans only....they don't lose HP. I am a consitant runner too with my car so I know it was an increase in performance. Not much...but it's certainly not a loss of 50 HP or whatever people claim lol

Don't worry about all this.

(1) I did a remap on my ECU back in Feb -- from CA Automotive out of the UK -- dyno gains showed (within 1 hour of driving the car) a gain of 40 bhp at the crank. Dyno results showed 546 bhp at the crank (roughly - converted it from rwhp). This did not void my warranty at the dealers as it is untraceable. Just whenever you take the car in for the service, tell them you don't want any software updates;

(2) In around 3 weeks, I will be receiving my E-Race exhaust and SS X-pipe (non-resonated) along with RPI intake kit and BMC filter (def recommended). CA Automotive advised me that I should see gains of a further 15+bhp and much better throttle response. Will let you know once I experience this first hand. Not only this, the sound the car makes is unrivaled!

(3) You don't need to delete secondary cat. Im keeping my cats and headers, etc.. all stock and not changing a think. Headers is also likely to boost performance and increase volume of the car (sound) and secondary cat delete as well. But if I were you, I would leave these alone for the moment. The garage installing the section 2 x-pipe and the e-race exhaust will need to cut from just after the cats to install those after-market parts but its ok because BMW exhaust is made to make such work easy and hassle free for any mechanic.

(4) A stock ECU remap (which would include unlocking vmax) will NOT be effected if you get exhaust and x-pipe. Once you start playing with headers, and pulley kit, etc.. then you need to obtain the appropriate ecu remap to cater to those mods. So for the moment, I recommend the e-race exhaust, ss x-pipes (stay away from meisterschaft as I heard its very cheap quality) and def go for RPI intake kit as this is a cheap mod and has great results.

Good luck with your purchase. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to PM me.
