I have code for thermostats monitoring for almost 6 months now
is it needed to be changed or I wait till throw a cell
no cell now but when I put my scanner it is always there.
car 2008 with 40,000 miles
So the codes is actively present, what CEL are you waiting for? From the instrument cluster? I don't think it will trigger as does are more emission related lights. Might be wrong =)
We're down to freezing temperatures in Minnesota and my car has tripped the 2B59 code. I cleared the code myself once and it came back the next morning. I was about to check codes again, but it actually cleared itself the next day (check engine turned off without intervention from me). I'm...
I already read this threat
my question is ,,is it fine to use car like this,,it has been 6 months no issues .
only this code 2B59 ,,or is it a must to change thermostat?
Yes, if it's stuck open, the engine will not warm up enough and oil will not be able to burn up all the condensation as it will never reach full operating temp.
Vise versa if it's stuck closed, the engine will over heat.
Thank you
My last question
Let say I did not change thermostat and leave it as it is. If only oil heating up slowly..we have warm weather almost all months expect December to March temp between 15-25 C
Other months it is 35-48 C
So if my thermostat stuck close then I have problems,,but now it seems to be stuck open. Does is it effect the performance of the car?
will it switch to stuck close if I leave it like this or not?
Does your oil temp ever reach 210* F? If it does and the you see no other signs of running rich (colder engines will run richer) I suppose it's ok to drive. Not sure what the real long terms would be.
Ideally, yes, cooler running engines will perform better and last longer (seals and gaskets) but too cool is also bad.
That what I am talking a bout .
In a hot climate in here in summer while driving it is never reach 210F..but if I am stationary then yes it reach 210F and sometime it goes further passing middle dots by little.
I guess I am fine for now.
Definitely will do it in future. One thing I noticed is fuel consumption is too high ,,is that related to thermostat cos car running richer?
all,
I flushed my ecu with new firmware from daten v65 and it has messed up the car.
I didn't know i should use NCS expert to read the config from each module before upgrading and only came to realise such need after doing it.
I currently have DSC and saftey tentioner warning on. I can use...
Hello everyone, finished up my Rod bearing and internal vanos line replacement a bit ago and finally got the videos edited and loaded up. It’s a 13 part series (yep, 13 parts, lol) that goes from the beginning to the vanos bleed and shows most every step along the way. I also included the parts...

I think it wasn't looked after so appreciate if you can let me know whether you would get rid of it or keep it .

2007 m6 convertible with 120 000km (approx. 75000miles).
Car recently threw an engine malfunction and reduced power warning, with red line reduced to 7000rpm.
BMW has diagnosed the car as having a fault with the electric oil pumps (circuit showing 'open' I think).
The tech says...
